OneChannel Web Conference: Virtual Classroom 1 of 4
Virtual Classrooms are private, secure eLearn (Blackboard) spaces which teachers create to support
learning. A Virtual Classroom enables teachers to present curriculum concepts and understandings
in a blended model (rather than just as individual learning objects or activities) and allows students to
access the content from home. It also enables students to collaborate and communicate in a safe
environment via blogs, wikis, journals and forums. Virtual Classrooms have a wide range of tools that
enable customisation to suit the learning intent and focus. Part 1 of the series looks at examples of

Restart Teaching Program
Restart Teaching is a 30-hour returning to teaching (RTT) professional development program
comprising four online modules. The program has been developed for state school teachers who do
not meet the recency of practice requirement for registration with the Queensland College of
Teachers. Participants will work with an experienced online facilitator to complete the program over
13 weeks. The course focuses on current curriculum frameworks, teaching and learning practices
and legislative and legal responsibilities. All state school teachers with the RTT condition against
their registration or any state school teachers seeking continuing professional development can

MultiLit – PreLit Workshop
Prep PreLit is evidence-based and best practice. Designed to complement a play-based learning
environment, it can be taught to a whole class, small groups, or individually. The program comprises
108 short, prescriptive lessons within which skills and concepts are taught explicitly and
systematically in a hierarchical sequence. There are two main components: phonological awareness

literacy demands of the Years 3,5,7 and 9 Numeracy tests
In this workshop, examples from the NAPLAN Numeracy tests will be used to explore several issues
related to the language and literacy demands of test items. These include the use of everyday
English terms that have different meanings in a mathematical context, the specialised symbols and
expressions of mathematical language, the grammatical constructions used to pose word problems

MultiLit - MiniLit Workshop
This two-day workshop trains teachers in the delivery of MultiLit’s MiniLit program which targets
