The 10th International Packaging & Printing Industry Exhibition (VietnamPackPrint) ended on Sept. 25, 2010 with
abundance of positive feedbacks.
During the past decade, VietnamPackPrint has built up its excellent reputation in Asia and became the most experienced
exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City which made plenty of trades possible and satisfied both exhibitors and visitors around the
world. Supported by Vietnam Packaging Association, Vietnam Plastic Association, Vietnam Rubber Association, Taiwan
External Trade Development Council, Taiwan Plastics Industry Association, Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation, Taiwan
Association of Machinery Industry and Taiwan Mold & Die Industry Association, it attracted nearing 200 brand leading
companies ( nearly 430 booths ) from Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy,
Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, the U.S.A., Netherlands, Ukraine and Vietnam. What’s more, this
stunning show gathered more than 13,000 professional buyers around the world and most of them looked forward to this
show next year.
MARKET OVERVIEW ：
The packaging sector is one of the most rapidly developing industries in Vietnam, driven by increased demand for consumer goods,
foodstuffs and expanding Vietnamese exports of products requiring packaging.
Vietnam presently offers a strong combination of rapid economic growth, expanding personal incomes, and an excellent demographic
profile that is fueling industrial production and consumer demand. These trends have led to packaging becoming one of the most
rapidly developing industries in Vietnam. According to the Vietnam Packaging Association (Vinpas), the packaging sector is growing
at least 15% - 20% per year.
At present, Vietnam has more than 900 packaging manufacturers, about 70 percent of which are located in the southern part of the
country. The market may be broken down into five major types: (1) plastic packaging; (2) cardboard/paper; (3) metal containers; (4)
glass; and (5) others.
New Business New Opportunity
According to Vietnam government, Vietnam’s economy is expected to grow 7.24% in the fourth quarter of this year (2010),
resulting in a full-year expansion of 6.7% versus a 5.32% growth last year. The recovery came from a 13.7% growth in the
industrial sector, a 7.1% increase in the disbursement of foreign direct investment at $11 billion, a 15% rise at $78 billion in
the total retail sales and services revenue, and a 23% surge at $70 billion in export values. It believes that the local economy is
on growth track with a strong momentum for a GDP growth target of between 7% and 7.5% next year.
