Incy-Wincy Spider BE: Egg Carton Caterpillar - Cardboard egg carton Scissors Green paint Paintbrush Felt pens Pipe cleaners Sticky tape Cut off the top of the egg carton, and cut the bottom half into two strips to make two caterpillars. Place the egg carton strips upside down so the hollows of the cups cannot be seen. Paint them green. Allow the paint ot dry. Use felt pens to add details, such as the eyes, nose and mouth. Cut two pipe cleaners in half to make antennae. Use the point of your scissors to create small holes at the top of the head before inserting the antennae. Cut four pipe cleaners into thirds. Insert one piece of pipe cleaner on the side of each cup to create the caterpillar’s legs. Inside each egg cup, bend down the ends of the pipe cleaners. Tape can be used to secure the antennae and legs. - Add more personality to your caterpillars by using plastic wiggly eyes or construction paper clothing and shoes. LÜ: 1. Get the Ants Over the River Divide the class into four groups. Place the four groups behind a line. The leader of each group stands on the line opposite to their team about 10 metres away behind another line. The space between the two lines is an imaginative river. All players are ants. The whole idea is that the leaders run to their team, take the next in line by the hand and take them over the river to the other side behind the opposite line. The leader stands there while the rescued person runs back to rescue another from his/her group. Once they bring the second ant across the river, they stand in line on the other side of the river and the rescued one goes back to rescue another. 2. The Caterpillar Chase Similar to the chain race. Determine two catchers. Each time a P is caught, he/se joins the catcher and (holding his/her hand tightly) runs together with him/her trying to tag someone else.
