VOCABULARY/ROOT WORDS: Solfege, Rhythm, whole note, half note, quarter note, eighth note call and response ASSESSMENTS: Students shall use proper solfege syllables when singing their parts. Students will use rhythm correctly and be able to identify the beats. Students will be able to sing their part while others are singing their own part. MONDAY Activating Prior Knowledge: Review African Noel, and All on a silent night. Activities/Strategies: Have students do vocalises to ready their voice for singing. Review all of African Noel and Measures 5-42 of All on a Silent Night. Continue to work on measures 43-50. Discuss the rhythm and solfege of these measures. Guided Practice/Independent: Write solfege for these measures Homework: Review rhythm and solfege TUESDAY Activating Prior Knowledge: Review African Noel and All on a Silent Night Activities/Strategies: Have students do vocalises to ready their voice for singing. Continue with All on a Silent Night working on measures 43-54 Guided Practice/Independent Practice: Bell ringer working on rhythm that is in All on a Silent Night Homework: WEDNESDAY Activating Prior Knowledge: All On a Silent Night Activities/Strategies: Continue piece All On a Silent Night Measures 51-64. Practice rhythms and solfege for these measures. Review African Noel, making sure to review dynamics. Begin working on We Wish You a Merry Christmas working on rhythm for measure 5-12 Guided Practice/Independent: In groups of three work on these measures writing in proper solfege syllable and work on rhythm. Have groups sing these measures. Homework: Review Rhythm and Solfege THURSDAY Activating Prior Knowledge: Review African Noel and All on a Silent Night and What we have learned for We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Activities/Strategies: Have students sing African Noel. African Noel should be completely learn and should be polished from now until concert time. Practice measures 57-64 for All on a Silent Night.
