animals with CPCSEA, submitted the necessary documents to the concerned quarters, followed
the case for almost two years and ultimately succeeded in getting the Department and University

carrying out Experimental work on Animals and thus for the first time started research work on
animals in the department.. This facility is availed not only by students, research scholars
and teaching faculty of our department but by all those departments in the university who
are carrying research work on animals.
10. Since my inception in the department as lecturer on substantative basis in May 1991, made
representations to different quarters, committees, authorities of the University regarding
abolition of undergoing M.Phil after completion of M.Pharm in case of Pharmacy students
and direct admission to Ph. D programme in Pharmacy as was the case in other pharmacy
institutions of the country. It was only at the time of the then Dean Academic Affairs, Prof S
.Fayaz Sahib (our present Worthy Registrar), who took the matter seriously. Documentary
evidence of 29 UGC/AICTE approved departments/ institutions of the country imparting different
pharmacy courses to students in the country were submitted to the authorities and ultimately in
2007 decision was taken by the authorities of Kashmir university regarding Undergoing M.Phil
course after completing M.Pharm and before joining PhD programme was abolished and

and Research, NSRAPER-2009” in the department, first ever to be organised in Pharmacy by
the department or University or J&K State.
18. The greatest achievement, which I consider, is making the Department of Pharmaceutical
Sciences survive the turmoil, when there was not a single person from the profession in
the Department and it was at the verge of closure, with only our present H.O.D being in the
permanent faculty. After joining the Department in 1990, being the only permanent member from
Pharmacy field in the teaching faculty, shouldered maximum burden for about 8 yrs., of teaching
different subjects in theory, conducting Practicals, getting the examiners from outside and
conducting examinations when another permanent lecturer joined the department in 1997.
