Hans W Reich to join Citigroup Public Sector Group
Citigroup has appointed Hans W. Reich as Chairman of its Public Sector Group for
the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Mr Reich, who will be based in
Frankfurt, will take up his position in January 2007.
As part of his responsibilities Mr. Reich will also chair Citigroup's Privatisation
Steering Committee consisting of senior government bankers and investment
banking professionals.
Mr Reich retired as Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of KFW
Bankengruppe, Frankfurt, in September 2006, after 40 years. He had been a
member of the Board of Managing Directors of KFW since 1990 and chaired the
Board since 1999.
Mr Reich is already a member of Citigroup’s International Advisory Board, a group
of business, financial and former government leaders that advises on strategic
questions related to economics, the political and social environment and business
development.
Mr Reich is also a member of the supervisory boards of: Aareal Bank AG,
Wiesbaden (Chairman); DePfa Bank plc, Dublin; HUK-COBURG
Versicherungsgruppe, Coburg; and ThyssenKrupp Steel AG, Duisburg.
Charles Prince, Citigroup CEO, said:
"This is a significant appointment for Citigroup's Public Sector Group. Hans
Reich is an exceptional banker, statesman and good friend. He brings
extraordinary wisdom and insight to this position. I am so pleased that he
has chosen to make Citigroup the beneficiary of his incomparable
experience.”
Sir Win Bischoff, Chairman of Citigroup, Europe, said:
“I am delighted that Hans Reich will extend his relationship with us by
joining our Public Sector Group. His appointment reinforces our
commitment not only to develop further our business in Germany itself but
also to provide world-class service and advice to public sector clients
across our entire region.”
Hans Reich said:
“Citigroup is a longstanding and successful partner of the German financial
community. Its commitment to the German economy, as the most
important one in Europe, is being proven by Citigroup as a leading
provider of M&A Advisory services and a market leader in fixed income,
equity capital markets and consumer banking. I firmly believe that this
success can be extended and will also be achieved in public sector
financing, for which the growth potential is outstanding - especially in
Germany but also in other parts of the EMEA region.”
