PHOTOGRAPHY PORTFOLIO EDUC-336, Photography In Education, Spring, 2008 Tom Wilcox, Instructor, wilcoxtm@jmu.edu, tmwilcox@gmail.com Course Materials: http://www.wilcoxmedia.com/pie/ INSTRUCTIONS Hello everyone. Your grade for the course is dependent upon the portfolio of photographs you submit. For each of the exercises on the course materials web site, collect your photos chronologically in an MS Word document. Label each photo using the part of the assignment it fulfills. Label your photos as follows... FRAMING 5 to 10 photos Framing #1, #2, etc. SUBJECT 6 photos Subject: Difficulty #1, #2, #3 Subject: Mountains #1, #2, #3 LIGHT 9 photos Light: Object #1, #2, #3 Light: Landscape #1, #2, #3 Light: Portrait #1, #2, #3 FOCUS 3 photos Focus #1, #2, #3 PHOTOSHOP 3 photos Photoshop #1, #2, #3 CAMERA 2 photos Camera #1, #2 Point out features or elements of special interest in each photo in one sentence or two at most. Be succinct; tell me how you applied what you learned in each of your photographs. Title your portfolio document with the first half of your email address, then an underscore and the word "portfolio" ( EXAMPLE: wilcoxtm_portfolio.doc ) Upload the MS Word portfolio document to the EDU336 Drop Box on Blackboard. Please resize the photos in you MS Word document so that they are 100k or less. If this is a problem, then create six separate documents instead of one very large document. Your six documents will correspond with the six topics, above, so title them accordingly. Each class has built upon the previous one. I'm hoping to see that reflected in your photographs and your writing. I know some of you were unable to complete the assignments to the letter, especially the Light / Landscape assignment due to cloudy weather, etc. I would hope that you would give it another try, but if for any reason you're unable to get the photos you want, you can use a different, less successful photo and simply describe why it did not work out the way it should or could have. GRADING I will consider your attendance and participation in class and your assignment when calculating your grade. Your assignment portfolio is mandatory for a minimal, passing grade. If you missed over half of the classes, your grade is supported almost entirely by your portfolio. The assignment portfolio is a compilation of all Topic Exercises on the course materials web site. The address for the course materials web site is: http://www.wilcoxmedia.com/pie EDUC 336, PHOTOGRAPHY IN EDUCATION, PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS PAGE 1 DEADLINE Your assignment portfolio MUST be available to me on Blackboard by Friday afternoon at 5:00 P.M., E.S.T., March 7, 2008.
