Awards:
The Decatur Arts Festival has also been named a Top 20 Event by the Southeast
Tourism Society since 2004. Winner of 8 International Festivals & Events
Association (IFEA) Pinnacle Awards; The Pinnacles recognize the highest quality
in promotional programs and materials produced by IFEA’s 3,000 plus member
festivals and events organizations around the world and are the most prestigious
awards in the special events industry. The Decatur Arts Festival was the Bronze
winner of the Grand Pinnacle in 2006 and Winner of 20 Georgia Festivals &
Events Association (GFEA) Awards.
Attendance:
Average attendance each year is over 65,000 (police estimate). According to our
survey, the heaviest majority of attendees are between the ages of 21 and 55.
Our attendees are mostly middle to upper middle class, with 65% reporting an
annual household income of over $75,000. 67% of the attendees were return
visitors to the festival with some visitors who had attended all 20 years!

Held on the front lawn of the Old Courthouse, the Literary Arts tent features a variety of literature
as well as local authors, improv and play readings. Also a special Friday evening Speak…Easy!
will be held in the Old Courthouse on the Square. The Literary Arts appeals to a wide variety of
age groups, with special focus on children’s programming on Sunday.

Held in the Dalton Gallery at Agnes Scott College, the exhibition showcases a variety of art from
throughout the Southeast. This exhibition kicks off with an opening reception held in conjunction
with the Decatur Business Association monthly meeting. The show is the longest running event of
the festival and remains open for 11 days.

Poster Unveiling

Held the first Thursday in May, the Poster Unveiling celebrates the annual arts festival poster.
Hundreds of attendees are the first to see the new poster, greet the artist and have their poster
signed. Traditionally, light food and beverages are served. The event is free to the public.

Fine Arts Purchase Award

Become a supporter of an artist exhibiting at the Fine Arts Exhibition. The Purchase Award is
available to businesses who desire to purchase art for their collection. Commit to buying a piece
of artwork from the exhibit for $500. The award will be named the “Your Company Name
Purchase Award”. Purchase Award supporters include City of Decatur, Decatur Business
Association and Decatur Development Authority.
