About the Department of the Premier and Cabinet
The Department of the Premier and Cabinet assists and advises the Premier and Cabinet and provides
leadership for the public sector in delivering quality services to all Queenslanders.
The department’s functions include:
 coordinating initiatives that advance government priorities
 supporting and advising the Premier and Cabinet, Ministers and agencies to ensure the structures
and processes of government run efficiently
 providing executive and support services for the Premier and other departments
 leading policy coordination across government
 supporting Cabinet and Cabinet Committee decision-making
 managing Queensland’s relationships with other governments.
Your opportunity
As a graduate officer with the Department of the Premier and Cabinet you will work with senior
management to gain experience in a broad range of governance and policy related areas, develop policy
skills and deal with a range of public policy issues. You will gain an understanding of the Government’s
social and wider policy agenda and experience the process of Cabinet decision-making.
Your key accountabilities
As a graduate officer you will:







research, analyse, interpret and apply legislation and public policy to assist in the development of
departmental initiatives;
prepare and/or assist in the preparation of submissions, reports, briefings and correspondence;
contribute to meetings and provide support to implement relevant proposals and outcomes;
prepare and present findings and recommendations for the consideration of senior management;
assist with the provision of accurate and timely advice on a range of issues including the development
of public policy, governance and executive services
liaise on policy and procedural issues at a variety of levels in government and externally;
participate in multidisciplinary work teams involved in policy development and program delivery.
