Chapter 3 – Listening, Chapter 5 – Interpersonal Skills
Group Presentation – Lesson Plan
Students will be randomly grouped for this assignment. Each group will have a
different section of the chapter to review. Some sections may require additional
research and thought as the textbook is limited in depth.
Chapter 3
#1 – The Importance of Listening
#2 – Barriers to Effective Listening
#3 – Listening Styles
#4 – Strategies for Listening more Effectively
Chapter 5
#5 – Building Positive Relationships
#6 – Dealing with Criticism
#7 – Managing Conflict
The goal is for each group to present and teach their section to the class in a 2025 minute timeframe. Everyone in the group MUST speak during the presentation, and
the group MUST work as a team. You may use any resources that you deem
appropriate. The idea is to be creative, informative, and believable for your audience. It
is your job to teach the content of the section in any manner that suits your group’s
liking. You are the teachers . . . make it interesting and understandable . . . the key is
knowing your audience.
Teaching is an art. It is not as easy as it may seem. You must be prepared and
plan your lesson thoroughly. Make the content come alive. Don’t just lecture at the
audience . . . make it meaningful for them. Think outside the box to enrich your lesson.
Notes, handouts, slides, and activities are all acceptable if you wish, just make it relevant
to your topic.
Each group MUST prepare some type of assessment tool at the end of the lesson
for students to take home and complete for the next class. Make the assignment useful
and relevant. The group will be responsible for typing, correcting, and grading the
assignments.
