D. SCIENCE FOUNDATION PROGRAMME
The Science Foundation Programme is based on the realization that there are students with a passion for Science
who intend to pursue Science and Technology degree programmes but are prevented from doing so by prohibitive
personal circumstances compounded by shortages of Science teachers and lack of or poorly equipped laboratories
at schools. Despite their passion for Science and Technology degree programmes, such students lack the
traditional requirements for normal university entry. Furthermore, the Science Foundation Programme allows
students to obtain entry requirements for Science and Technology degrees in one year instead of the traditional
two years, which translates into money and time saved. Overall, the Science Foundation Programme is an
affordable, convenient and shorter alternative entry route to the Science and Technology degrees.
Entry Requirements
You qualify for acceptance into the Science Foundation Programme, if you have a passion for Sciences and you
also have:
1) (a) attempted ‘A’ level sciences but scored at most one E.
OR
(b) attempted Matriculation with Science & Mathematics specialization but did not get
University entry grades OR
2) Five ‘O’ levels including English & Mathematics, and any one of the following Science
Subjects (Biology, Food & Nutrition, Physics, Chemistry/Physical Science, and Integrated Science).
E. AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION PROGRAMME (ASFP) – 1 YEAR
The ASFP aims at contributing towards national and regional socio- economic development through capacity
building by providing opportunities for the disadvantaged candidates who aspire to pursue agricultural and related
degrees. The ASFP allows students to obtain requirements for entry into agricultural sciences or biological
7
science related degrees and at the same time, enabling them to successfully sit for public ‘A’ Level examinations
if they so wish.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for entry into the ASFP, a candidate must have attempted “A” Level
OR
Have passed at least five “O” Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics and one of

Science or Integrated Science or their equivalents.
