Distortion is Copenhagen’s nightlife & street culture festival.
Distortion is the biggest and the wildest annual party in Copenhagen. It is also the first and the largest festival in Denmark for club & electronic music, nightlife culture, street fashion and partyrelated social art.
Distortion is not only just for fun, we do have a strong commitment to produce and promote the personal charm of the city, combining both its personal charm, its international metropolitan aspects and its fabulous architecture and culture.
Distortion 2007 is the 9 th edition of A CELEBRATION OF COPENHAGEN NIGHTLIFE.
This year, Distortion presents its largest programme ever, with 38 parties/receptions/events/happenings during 5 days/nights. Distortion gathers between 5.800 and
7.300 people, every year, the first week of June, since 1998,
Distortion is notorious internationally for its ability to create intense party atmosphere and funchaos with a cultural edge. Every day, Distortion celebrates a single Copenhagen district. The festival moves from district to district every day. The festival is meant as the ultimate mobile party in an urban setting, with focus on the charming corners of Copenhagen and the hardest international party trends. Distortion is coordinated and arranged by the human office - in cooperation with a large number of institutions, shops, galleries, bars, clubs, artists and this year even the Copenhagen Cathedral.

* KØBENHAVNS DOMKIRKE aka Vor Frue Kirke is the Copenhagen Cathedral, very practical for Royal weddings and musical peace by night (lovely Natkirken!).
Distortion just wants you to feel good and so does Jesus, so we should all get along well in there.
* PER VIBSKOV is a radical priest with an extravagant red viking beard. He will host a musical church service and will let Distortion-goers on the loose with a blessing.
* GHETTOBLASTING STRØGET: Just like Tivoli, we want our opening parade on the walking street. Only instead of Pierrot we have the most powerful ghettoblaster in Europe. Built by hand in Amager by www.promilleservice.dk. A little thank you to TomBoy & Big Thanks to AiAiAi.
* RECEPTION / DINNER: One glorious moment in every city is when you turn from a new kid on the block to a reliable local. That’s the time where you know your way around the shawarma bars. Sha warma No.1 is the city’s supreme ruler.
The HUMAN office crew & friends will be deejaying on the first floor.
* RÅDHUSPLADSEN / TOWN HALL SQUARE: We will probably be goofy drunk by 21.30/22.00, therefore probably try to turn the Ghettoblaster to full power, just for fun.
* LAUNCH PARTY > Privatfester er sjovest. Især i cirkustelte. Derfor starter byens festfestival med den ultimativ privatfest i et stort cirkustelt på Amager. Tak til Kasper GISP som også er Kejseren i Republikken. Koncept: Alle er velko mmen til at holde en glemt fødselsdagsfest, hvor de inviterer deres familie og venner. * NØRREBRO DISTORTION > Aaaah, the sweet noisy mess of Nørrebrogade.
Why the hell is Vesterbro so hip, Nørrebro is the shit ! Nørrebro Distortion starts with a multi street party in Elmegade, Fælledvej and Blågaardsgade. GOGGLE is a fine fashion shop for classic elegance. The GLAM girls are still the hardcorest vintage clothing chicks in town. CANVAS, a legendary local shop, is closing next week, so it’s final party time and they are hosting a wild visual installation. THIS
ISSUE is a big gathering of party animals doing clothing and design (monster
Balkan music line-up) and ELEKTROCUTE are cute electro chicks in a little record shop. Distortion will arrange a party bus, a mobile bar and street ghettoblasting fun.
* Warm-up before the street parties in all these funky shops is at the housewarming of the brand new COPELAND / VICE office, on the Møllegade /
Guldberggade corner - and on Sankt Hans Torv where bying milkshakes and smoking waterpipes will (maybe) help Making POVERTY HISTORY. Also you

can bond with Ungeren at the weekly Torsdagsdemo, on Blågaardsplads.
* RUST and Kernefamilien will be hosting a costume party with a ”havefest” theme. The Rust Bassment is free on Thursdays and the Kernefamilien crew resides there.
* SOUNDVENUE, the finest music magazine in Copenhagen, and DISTORTION were given the keys to SLIK, Copenhagen’s hottest weekly Thursday rave, at a brand new nightclub right in the heart of City. Expect a bash. Starring TTC (the biggest myspace band in France and one of the most hyped electro-hiphop bands in Europe), the party also features Djuna Barnes favourite COCKTAIL
VOMIT, from Iceland as well as Denmark’s 15-year-old techno champion: MIKE
SHERIDAN, signed on Kim Kemi’s label. Warming up are the mashup champs from DJduo DØD, two TTC addicts. Will Soundvenue’s music hipster crowd, allied with Copenhagen’s Icelandic electropoppish community stand up against the heavy Slik partyheads?
Yet another historic Distortion party clash!

* V1 V1 V1 V1: four V1s for four years of V1 being the coolest gallery in
Copenhagen. Or maybe rather: for being the only gallery in town that we actually understand and enjoy – which could also mean that V1 is “ok” and all other galleries are too arty.
* MUCHACHO, is a brand new record shop right in heart of Vesterbro V, hosting a “White Gloves and ol’school breakdance boogie” thing. Yo! * Vesterbro’s electro ravers har deres egen DIN, med electro superheltene Kim Kemi og Justin
Side. * DOODLETOWN is a very good name for a brand new graffiti-doodle gallery.
* BLOCK PARTY on Enghaveplads is one of the things we are most looking for this year, because few things in town are cooler than Bitschslap Magazine and the DiscoVendetta team.
Disco Vendetta + Copyflex & Pepita + Fergus Murphy + ... what’s with the 4metre robot? DARLINGS laver en Distortion tallerken til aftensmad (og festen forsætter der hele natten).
* GUSGUS, the techno pop legends from Iceland, are playing Lille Vega live.
Because they released a fabulous new album, and because they want to help promote this monster festival in Reykjavic called Iceland Airwaves. Every year,
GusGus close the festival with a legendary show, which is more amazing and more legendary every year.
* VEGA DISTORTION. Dear friend of Copenhagen, Vega needs your help.
Please give ganja to the security dudes, a dildo to the girls in the wardrobe and mushrooms to the bartenders. This place looks fabulous, sounds fabulous – and even the bookings are super extra fabulous... but where is the chaos!? Vega should be heaven on earth so let’s make it happen goddammit! Drugs in the toilets is a no-no, of course, but cant we at least do blow jobs in peace?
* NUITS SONORES is the biggest electronic music festival in France, a little like
Sonar in Barcelona/Spain, only it takes place in a hundred beautiful places all

over Lyon, like swimming pools, industrial areas, old theatres etc… If Distortion was not stuck into behaving like an arrogant loudmouthed teenager, we would probably get public funding from the kommune, and we would look a lot like Nuits
Sonores or IcelandAirwaves, two of the finest festivals in Europe.
* ICELAND AIRWAVES is a legendary festival in Reykjavic (Iceland). For three reasons: 1- the supersharp worldwide bookings (If you like to hear Hot Chip and the Rapture before everyone else for example), 2- the final party with GusGus, 3- small is beautiful, Reykjavic is the size of Vesterbro and it rocks to surf from party to party like it was Vesterbro Distortion.
* TEKI and ORGASMIX are the two hottest crunk DJs in Paris, from the internationally glorious electrohiphop band TTC. They played at Distortion in
2003 and they emptied the dancefloor in 7 minutes. Let’s see if things go better for them now that they have become international superstars.
* DISCOBELLE.NET is the best music blog of the Öresund region. We thought we would give another chance to this “Kulturbro” concept. Remember? Kulturbro cost DKK 60 millions, it was half empty and it was forgotten 4 minutes after it was over. Well, the MALMÖ DISTORTION is a new Kulturbro, which costs nothing, which will be packed and which people will remember, we promise.
* COUSIN COLE and POCKETKNIFE, from Brooklyn, are totally fresh, playing an elegant and chaotic mashup style with a RnB / Baltimore touch. SHIR KHAN, is the king of the rave in Berlin, he plays banging vocal bass. YO!HAD is the club revelation of the year in Copenhagen, with dark queen of the rave Djuna Barnes in front.

_‘ LÆKKER LYTTER do the URBAN GARDEN PARTY thing, with a team of riot gardeners Expect gardening, Expect boats, expect chaos.
* WONDERLAND MAGAZINE is becoming a seriously fashionable magazine about Copenhagen’s art & design scene. (Remember, when we use the word
“fashionable” we are talking about people who have a vague idea of which kind of world we live in today, like somehow “contemporary”. We are NOT talking about the “fashionable” of the socially insecure out-of-towners who think buying
Louis Vuitton bags or booking tables at nightclubs means anything else than being a new-rich poser).
* VICE magazine is kind of fashionable too, hosting a skate session with ALIS, at
Christiania’s ALIS Wonderland. Expect free beer, ALIS DJs (hiphop & trasher rock?) and a bunch of skaters.
* A LIFE AQUATIC
– THE DINNER, hosted by THE BABOOSHKA TWINS vs
WE GOT BEEF. How lucky we are, in lovely Copenhagen, that the real party champions are always socially and humanly advanced beings. Here, they are using their might to host a goofy private dinner party on water, to replace the traditional Distortion Champagne Boats Pre-Party. * RAVE BUS. Some traditions cannot be broken: The hardest boomboom ravers

in town will meet every year at RaverBussen. This year, the hot little banging club
People’s Club aka DJ Daniel San gets the honour, along with the one and only
Jean Eric von Baden, who co-hosts RaverBussen for the 7th consecutive year.
* FINAL PARTY - as usual, all the party powers of the DISTORTION festival concentrate into this one monster event. The tradition is to break our own record every year. In 2003, the Distortion Final Party took place at the same super venue: Halvandet. It was a night of magic and wonders, for anyone from
Superpitcher & Madvig to the French Ambassador.
* RUBADUB BEACH PARTY - can you hear how perfectly these few words fit ?
