Why don’t people make home energy improvements when it would make them wealthier and more comfortable? Why do Japanese women not recommend a product to their friends and families even when they enjoy it themselves? To help our clients answer questions like these, ReD Associates are currently looking for interns for our Copenhagen office beginning in February 2013. WHO WE ARE ReD Associates is an innovation and strategy consultancy with offices in Copenhagen and New York. Our international staff of anthropologists, sociologists, economists, political scientists, and designers all employ the technique of “grounded theory”, which means that we spend a lot of time with customers around the world collecting qualitative data about their habits, preferences, and aspirations. Through a process of data triangulation, our teams add information from other sources such as surveys, industry reports, and bibliometric analysis to develop deep insights into how and why consumers make decisions. We use these insights both to see the world in more compassionate and complex ways, and to identify new business opportunities for our clients. WHAT WE OFFER At ReD, you will learn to apply social science theories and methods to help international companies like Samsung, Adidas, Novo Nordisk and LEGO overcome their biggest challenges. You will be an integral part of our project teams and your work will typically include: - Qualitative and quantitative research, primarily ethnographic fieldwork and expert interviews - Development of insights, concepts, solutions and recommendations for our clients You will get an experienced mentor at ReD who will help you define your development goals and support your personal development throughout your internship. In addition, we will provide a small stipend to cover the cost of living for the duration of your stay. WHO WE LOOK FOR We seek students from all disciplines and backgrounds, but with a demonstrable strength in social sciences such as Anthropology, Ethnography, Sociology and Political Science. You will have an analytically sharp and empathic mind and a professional work ethic that inspires and motivates people around you. You are intellectually curious, have great communication skills and are fluent in both written and oral English. When evaluating applications we specifically look for: - An outstanding academic record - Extracurricular activities that highlight your skills as a leader, thinker, innovator etc. - International experience and language skills - Previous experience with qualitative and/or quantitative methods Ideally the internship should start early February, but we will specify the exact dates in collaboration with you in order to ensure an optimal experience.
