Fashion Merchandising Career Forum Eco-Bag Contest Competition Guidelines Sponsored in 2010 by Lowe’s and Charming Charlie’s Objectives: The objective of this contest is to engage students in the use of eco-friendly processes and products related to the fashion merchandising industry. CRITICAL NOTE: Please read all instructions before beginning this project. If you have any questions regarding the guidelines, please contact Dr. Gwendolyn Hustvedt at gwhust@txstate.edu. General: - No entry fee will be assessed, however, the students must be pre-registered for the career forum through their sponsoring college or university by the registration deadline. One entry per student This competition is open to any student attending the full day career forum on March 25th, 2010 (See eligibility requirements on the following page). Prizes will be given for “Top Design” selected by the Artist Jury and for “People’s Choice” selected by voting at the FMCF. Top Design prize will include $100 gift certificate to Charming Charlie’s as well as other prizes and People’s Choice will be a $50 gift certificate to Charming Charlie’s. ________ - - Bags can be embellished or reworked with any materials that do not interfere with the utility of the finished bag. o The finished bag must be functional (for shopping) and hold 15 pounds and/or (2) gallon-sized mayonnaise jars. o Completed bags must re-use all pieces of the original bags. Remember, this is a sustainability competition and all pieces should be re-used instead of thrown away. o The finished bag should be an expression of your design vision (not the original bag design) The original logo or design on the bag does NOT need to be maintained or treated in any specific way. Entrants must have met deadlines set by each school and the deadlines outlined in this guideline. Students are limited to one entry per year. Each school is limited to 15 entries per school. Each school will pre judge entries for their students and send the top 15 bags to Career Forum. All entries must have a student entry form attached to each bag by paper clip. (Entry forms will be replaced by a number during judging to allow for double-blind review). All submitted bags will be donated to a local charity after judging About the Bag - Students must use the LOWE’S Let Build Something Together bag. The SKU # is 775153000268. o 100% non-woven o Blue & gray o With plastic removable bottom (which can be resized to fit the finished bag) Eligibility: - You must be pre-registered for Career Forum through their sponsoring college or university by the close of registration. - Your registration must be on file PRIOR to the judging of the competition. No late registrants will be able to compete. - You must attend Career Forum all day and be present to win. - You must be a college sponsored participant and be enrolled in a two or four year institution. - Your signature as well as the signature of the instructor on the entry form must verify your status as a student and that all of the above is correct. Instructors have the right to refuse verification. - No graduate students will be allowed to enter. Deadline - All entries must be received on or before March 19,2010 at 4:00pm. Entries will be accepted from now until the deadline. Shipping and Delivery - All entries must be delivered by March 19,2010 at 4:00pm. Please keep in mind that these shipments must go through the university mail system, which often takes longer. Hand delivery is allowed only to the Main FCS Department Office (FCS 105) between 8am and 5pm.
