A further week of daily training under their belts and the official basketing list appeared on the SCMDPR web
site on Friday 9th December 2011 for CAR RACE HOT SPOT 2, which was due to take place on Saturday 10th
December from 257km (approx. 160 miles) and this showed a total of 4,423 pigeons were competing (yet
another record entry for this race) and this figure included 3,765 International, which included 350 from the
United Kingdom and 47 from Ireland, plus 660 pigeons from South Africa. Unfortunately due to widespread
unfavourable weather conditions this race was postponed until Tuesday 13th December, with Training Race 14
then postponed until Thursday 15th December and CAR RACE HOT SPOT 3 postponed and rearranged for
Sunday 18th December. Once again this shows the competitors/entrants that the race committee will do
everything in their power to make sure your pigeons have a fair chance to make it back from each race.
The liberation then took place at 05-15 in cool and partly cloudy conditions, 19c (66f), with a light head wind
and a good race was anticipated by the loft managers and Zandy Meyer (Race Director). Late afternoon
thunderstorms were expected. Wednesday morning forecast in Sun City was 18c (64f) light rain showers but
clearing quickly.
CONGRATULATIONS on winning 1st OPEN and “FLYING THE FLAG FOR THEIR COUNTRY” went to JUERGEN

Race, 14th Open to Kelley-Buckner from United States Of America, 15th Open to Eldorado Lofts Canada from
Canada, 16th Open to Josef Huber from Germany, 17th Open to Blue Lofts Australia from Australia with pigeon
bred by John Koster, well done mate, see you soon for a few COLD CASTLE BEERS in Sun City, 18th Open to
Saad Alqanem from Kuwait, 19th Open to Heinz Wilms from Germany and then 20th Open to Rodolf Cossmann
from Germany. These top 20 pigeons were all clocked within 1 minute 06.75 seconds of the race winner and 7
different countries were represented in the top 20. The top 4 pigeons were all entries from different countries.
The top 50 pigeons were all clocked within 3 minutes 16.45 seconds of the race winner and the top 100 pigeons
were all clocked within 4 minutes 05.74 seconds of the race winner. A total of 1,146 pigeons were officially
recorded by 09-12, then 1,971 by 09-20, then 2,353 by 09-28, then 2,763 by 09-38, then 3,612 by 11-18, 3,731

make it back to the lofts. The clock was left on to record pigeons on Wednesday and they started rolling in from
07-06 and 4,079 had been clocked by 08-06 and finally 4,194 had returned by 18-28, leaving just 229 to make it
back to base camp.
*** BRAND NEW MOTOR CAR WINNER*** for CAR RACE HOT SPOT 2 went to R + P. MONTILA from the UNITED
KINGDOM who actually took 2nd OPEN with their pigeon named SOLITAIRE SUPER V R. This partnership live in
EVERTON, near SANDY and have always flown a good pigeon at the distance. The pigeon that actually won 1st
OPEN in this race was a German entry but it was NOT-ACTIVATED, so was not eligible to win the Brand New
Motor Car, once again showing how important it is to make sure all your pigeons are activated before the Car
Race Hot Spot 1. THIS IS THE SECOND BRAND NEW MOTOR CAR THAT THE UNITED KINGDOM TEAM HAVE
WON IN TWO CONSECUTIVE CAR RACE HOT SPOT RACES IN THIS 2011/12 RACE SERIES, TAKING OUR TOTAL
TO FIVE SINCE THEY WERE INTRODUCED. Wonder if we can get the hattrick on Sunday in CAR RACE HOT
SPOT 3?
***TWO BIRD AVERAGE WINNER & US$2,000 CASH PRIZE*** went to JOSEF HUBER from GERMANY with
pigeons named GOLDEN MISSILE and CHATTERBOX finished 16th & 105th with a combined flying time of 0710-10.33. The UNITED KINGDOM best two pigeons belonged to CHAMPION FRIBBO with RACING STAR and
PRINCESS OF FRATING took 42nd & 71st OPEN, both were bred by LEE FRIBBINS from COLCHESTER who is
the Editor of THE RACING PIGEON and THE PICTORIAL, his combined flying time was 10-10-58.89 being beaten
by just 48 seconds. WELL DONE TO THE WINNER AND HARD LUCK LEE FOR GETTING SO CLOSE.
*** TWENTY US$1,000 HOT SPOT CASH PRIZES*** were taken by ACTIVATED pigeons in the top 25 in the Open
result. The result showed that the pigeons that actually took 1st, 6th, 7th, 11th & 14th were NOT ACTIVATED
and this cost each of these entrants/competitors US$1,000 each but the good news was for the fanciers that
took 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th & 25th all walked away with a very handy US$1,000 bonus prize. This shows once
again that if your pigeons are still in the lofts prior to the Car Race Hot Spot 1, it is extremely foolish not to
ACTIVATE them.
CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st UNITED KINGDOM, 2nd OPEN and “FLYING THE NATIONAL FLAG” went to R
+ P. MONTILA with pigeon named SOLITAIRE SUPER V R and bred by this partnership from EVERTON, near

been in the results virtually every week and then 20th UK, 204th Open to Reds and Blues administered by Steve
Radcliffe from Skelmersdale and with a pigeon bred by J & Lee Davison and Son from Liverpool. Another truly
fantastic result for the United Kingdom Team and a total of 116 UK pigeons were officially clocked by 09-12, then
158 by 09-20, 190 by 09-28, then 288 by 11-18, 296 by 13-03, then 309 by 16-54 and then 315 by nightfall at 19-
23, which meant 36 were still missing. The clock was left on during Wednesday and the first pigeon clocked was
at 07-06 and 332 had been clocked by 18-28 leaving 19 to return to the lofts.
CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st IRELAND, 66th OPEN and “FLYING THE NATIONAL FLAG” goes to
BERNARD SMYTH with his consistent pigeon named CONOR G which was clocked at 08-51-07.52, just 3
minutes and 39.30 seconds behind the race winner, this pigeon has been flying exceptionally well and already

Open another for Lucas and Gleeson and then 6th Ireland, 765th Open for Maurice O’Donnell. A good team
result for the Irish Team who had 15 pigeons clocked by 09-12, then 26 by 09-20, 41 by 11-18, then 44 by 16-54
and still 44 by nightfall, which meant just 3 pigeons was still missing. Another pigeon returned on Wednesday,
making all 45 back in the lofts, leaving just 2 to return to base camp.
GLOBAL NOMINATION for CAR RACE HOT SPOT 2 showed a total of 562 pigeons entered and with 1,894

(approx. £9,675). The UNITED KINGDOM Team members did well and GALLOWS HILL KID took 53rd OPEN with

interest. It is basically a SINGLE PIGEON NOMINATION and any pigeon can be entered for just US$10 (approx.

***PLEASE PUT THIS NEW DATE IN YOUR DIARY*** It now looks like the proposed race date for the 17th Sun
City Million Dollar Pigeon Race, which had been arranged and fixed for Saturday 26th January 2013 will now
take place on SATURDAY 2nd FEBRUARY 2013, as the FCI Pigeon Olympiad in Slovakia has now been arranged
on our original race date. Of course, I will confirm all details when official confirmation is received from Air
Sport Internationale.
The next race will be CAR RACE HOT SPOT 3 which will be held now on Sunday 18th December from 300km
(187 miles) when about 4,175 pigeons will be competing. GOOD LUCK TO ALL FANCIERS CONCERNED.
