Clothing for ski trip Please pack the case with your child and check the case’s weight (20kg maximum). If we have to pay for excess baggage weight, we will send you the bill! Luggage labels will be sent home next week with the flight details. Lots of thin layers e.g. short-sleeved and long-sleeved t-shirts, sweatshirts Track bottoms (at least 3 pairs), jeans Swimming costume or trunks plus rubber-soled flip-flops for poolside One bath towel Pyjamas, slippers (and dressing gown if desired) Underwear for the week Smart outfit for awards evening Trainers (at least two pairs) A watch Neck warmer/scarf Hat (plus balaclava for under helmet – optional) Goggles Ski gloves or mittens Three pairs of ski socks (football socks are NOT suitable) Lip salve and sun cream (at least factor 15) Salopettes Ski jacket – wear this when travelling – no need to bring any other coat Shampoo, shower gel, moisturiser Deodorant – no sprays Toothpaste and toothbrush Small packs of tissues Hairdryers are provided – bring one if you wish but no straighteners Please make sure that you have removed the tags and packaging from any new clothes. Don’t forget the plastic bags for soiled clothing! The children will be given a short break each morning during their ski lesson so you may wish to pack some snacks that can be put in the pocket of the ski jacket e.g. fun-size Mars bars. No chewing gum please. Medication Please ensure that all essential medication is packed (in a clear plastic bag) in your child’s suitcase and clearly labelled with his/her name and the required dose. This will be collected upon arrival at the hotel. If your child suffers from asthma, inhalers must be brought and will be carried by your child at all times during activities. Please indicate on the medical consent form if your child has any allergies e.g. to penicillin or ibuprofen. If your child suffers regularly from a minor ailment e.g. is prone to sore throats/ headaches/blisters, you may wish to pack the appropriate medication such as throat lozenges, Calpol or blister plasters to be taken if required. Again, this must be packed (in a clear plastic bag) in your child’s suitcase and clearly labelled with his/her name and the required dose. This will be collected upon arrival at the hotel. If your child is prone to travel sickness, please let him/her take a tablet before arrival at school on 17th January. Another tablet should be packed in the case and will be given to your child before the return journey. The medical consent form must be returned to school by Friday 8th January. Airport Please note that current airline restrictions limit the size of hand-luggage – please ensure that your child has only one small rucksack. Because of the restrictions on liquids being taken on board, please do not include any liquids in your child’s handluggage. The children will be given the opportunity to buy a drink for the flight once we have cleared the security checks. A maximum of £10 sterling should be brought for spending at the airport or on the flight. Meals are not supplied on this flight so it is important that you send a packed lunch with your child (no yoghurts). It will be a long journey so a few games, books or a pack of cards would be a welcome distraction! An MP3 player, Nintendo DS, etc. may be brought (don’t forget to pack the charger and a European adaptor plug) but entirely at your own risk! You can also send a camera – a disposable one would be best. No expensive headphones or tablet computers/iPads and, as always, mobile phones must not be brought.
