WORK & LABORATORY EXPERIENCE Senior Design Project, Dr. Michael Sailor’s Lab, La Jolla, CA 08/2010 – Present Integral part of a three person team working to increase the sensitivity of an optical biosensor platform that looks at protein interactions by identifying major sources of noise to develop an improved design. Planned and conducted testing to quantify noise error coming from ambient light changes and bubbles caught in the flow channel in the original design to define necessary improvements. Implemented design changes and conducted testing to quantify improvement and wrote a poster and technical report to summarize the results. Reliability Engineering Intern, Adecco @ BD Biosciences, San Jose, CA 06/2010 – 09/2010 Effectively planned and managed own timeline to complete three concurrent projects in three months. Applied DFR to create a comprehensive test plan for robustness stress testing on a flow cytometer based on FMEA identified risks to identify and prevent issues from occurring at customer sites. Executed test protocol and managed test schedule to complete deliverables by agreed due dates while trouble shooting leaks, firmware issues and instrument delivery delays. Communicated findings to the hardware team at weekly meetings to resolve reliability issues of product, with a final analysis of data presented in a technical review and written technical report. Robot Design Contest, UCSD Design Course, La Jolla, CA 03/2009 –06/2009 Designed and constructed a robot built to specific operating parameters with a team of four interdisciplinary engineers, utilizing standard industry tools, 3-D AutoCAD, Inventor, and Lasercamm.
