2010-2015: Professor of Philosophy, Florida International University (appointed as
Assistant Professor in 1976, promoted to Associate Professor and awarded tenure in
1982, promoted to Professor in 1994).
2008-2010: Faculty Fellow in Academic Affairs.
2000-2005 Fellow in the Honors College (part of a team teaching the two-semester
Sophomore Honors course as well as courses for the Philosophy Department).

2008-2010 Faculty Fellow in Academic Affairs—a significant specific assignment was
overseeing the faculty credentialing process for our SACS Reaffirmation of Accreditation
(here I helped develop policies and procedures to regularize credentialing as an on-going
activity in the units and Academic Affairs). I also reviewed and suggested revisions to
many policies in Academic Affairs, and advised the Provost and members of the
Academic Affairs team on numerous matters involving the impact of policies and
decisions on the faculty and students. In addition significant effort was devoted to
“textbook affordability” (spearheading the development of FIU's policy mandated by
legislation and BOT regulation, and coordinating efforts to fulfill our responsibilities in
this area); troubleshooting an number of problems and issues related to registration; and
staffing and facilitating the Strategic Planning Committee for the Arts.
