Route Medication may be administered via a number of routes: oral (by mouth), sublinqual (under the tongue), transdermal (patch), injection Indication: a reason to prescribe a drug or perform a procedure; "the presence of bacterial infection was an indication for the use of an antibiotic Contraindication reason or condition for which a drug should not be administered, e.g., pregnancy Special Instructions: Instructions given by the physician or MA to the patient, i.e., When E.E.S. is prescribed to treat a bacterial infection, patients should be told that although it is common to feel better early in the course of therapy, the medication should be taken exactly as directed.
