Bibliography and Line Spacing Formatting Hints For Microsoft Word

The new MS Word may have additional unwanted spacing in the documents. To correct spacing follow these steps.

Two Options (it is suggested that you do this prior to starting a document or select the entire document either by ctrl A or using the mouse holding down the right button and dragging the mouse over the

entire document.)

Option 2 Option 1

Select Paragraphs

You will see Indent and Spacing

Under Spacing

Set to 0 (zero)

After selecting entire document

Right click on the mouse

Select Paragraphs follow the steps in Option 1

Double check that Line Spacing is set to Single

Formatting Bibliography

Hanging paragraphs is how the bibliography should look. Use the step from above to get into the

Paragraph section then follow the instruction below.

Similar to the above instructions – make sure the Spacing is set to 0 and the Line Spacing is set to single.

Under Indentation

Under Special click the dropdown box select Hanging

This will make all lines under the first line indent by 5 spaces.

Look at what in the Preview box to see the difference.
