Applications must be submitted as one document, 2 page maximum. Please read and follow the Expense Guidelines on the following page before
completing the application. Communication will be conducted via e-mail.
1. Describe what you propose to use the award for. Include a detailed budget and identify specifically what the grant will be used for
in the budget. Only expenses specified in the budget, and specified in the attached expense guidelines, are eligible for
reimbursement. Include (a.) a list of the sources and amounts of funding you received for professional development in the past two
years, and (b.) any other funding you have applied for to assist you with your proposed activity/event in addition to this grant.
2. How will your participation in this activity make a significant difference in your life? Describe how your proposed project/activity
will help you move toward your career/professional goals.
Applications are due Thursday, September 24, 2015 (funded activity must occur between January 1 - June 30, 2016) and Thursday, March 31,
2016 (funded activity must occur between July 1 - December 31, 2016). We adhere to these deadlines. No after-the-fact events are funded.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS FOR WOMEN
Professional Development Grants for Women are designed to facilitate professional development and career mobility of women.
Faculty and staff who have been continuously employed at Ohio State for at least one year; full-time undergraduate students at the
sophomore level and above; and full-time graduate/professional students are eligible to apply for a Professional Development
Grant. Grants up to $1,000 will be awarded.
WOMEN OF COLOR ADVANCEMENT GRANTS
Women of Color Advancement Grants are designed to facilitate professional development, career mobility, and networking
activities of women of color faculty, staff, and graduate students. Faculty and staff who have been continuously employed at Ohio
State for at least one year and full-time graduate students are eligible to apply for a Women of Color Advancement Grant. Grants
up to $1,000 will be made.
Either grant may be used for:
– Participation and/or presentation at professional conferences, seminars, or workshops
– Research
– Materials, equipment , supplies, or other expenses directly related to career or professional development
– Developing articles or books for publication
– Networking or mentoring activities
Selection criteria and requirements for both grants are:
1. Preference is given to individuals with acute financial need.
2. Impact of participation on the candidate’s individual development and her career or professional goals.
3. Financial need, including effort to secure funding from other available sources. Funding not readily available through other
sources at Ohio State. Efficient use of resources for the activity/event.
4. Undergraduate students-2.5 or higher cumulative GPA; graduate/professional students-3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
5. Preference is given to individuals who have not previously received a CDW Professional Development grant or CDW Reentry
Scholarship.
6. Funded events must occur between January 1 and June 30, 2016 (Thursday, September 24, 2015 application deadline) or
between July 1 and December 31, 2016 (Thursday, March 31, 2016 application deadline). We adhere to these deadlines.
No after-the-fact events will be funded.
Expense Guidelines
All funds are granted on a reimbursement basis. Reimbursements will only be provided for items specified in the budget submitted
with the grant application. Original and official receipts are required for all expenses to be reimbursed. For grants under $500, the
participant should accumulate her receipts, submit them at one time, and one reimbursement check will be issued. For grants from
$501 to $1,000, a maximum of two checks can be issued to cover all reimbursements for which there are receipts. Requests for
reimbursement must be completed by the specified deadline.






Purchase of personal clothing, personal accessories, and alcohol are not allowed.
Costs of child care cannot be covered.
Meal costs are allowed for the recipient only (not per diem) and receipt must:
o Specify food and beverages ordered,
o Directly relate to project implementation, and
o Not exceed per diem travel guidelines for the university which can be found at:

Travel expenses must conform to university travel policies/guidelines, found on the web at:

o For travel by car, keep a log of your travel destinations, odometer readings, and save your receipts for reimbursement.
Specific mileage must be submitted for reimbursement to occur. We reimburse for cost of gasoline, not for mileage.
