Course Objective
The purpose of this course is to introduce basic concepts of financial
management with special attention to corporate financial decisions.
Investment and Financing decisions will be our main concern. Time value of
money concept and risk-return tradeoff are the two important topics upon
which we will build most of our discussion.
Required Textbook
Brigham, Eugene F. and Joel F. Houston. Fundamentals of Financial
Management, Thomson, South-Western, 10th Edition, 2004.
Course Policies
There will be two mid-term examinations and a final examination in this
course. Each mid-term exam will cover the material immediately preceding it.
The final exam will be comprehensive. There will be no make-up
examinations for the midterms. If the student provides a legal document
stating the reasons for not taking the exam on the scheduled date, a
comprehensive make-up exam may be given during the final exam week.
Do not forget to take a copy of the legal document to the instructor within the
week after the exam.
Pop quizzes will be given during lectures. Your lowest quiz score will be
dropped. No make-ups will be offered.
Grades will be assigned on the basis of students’ performance in mid-term
exams, final exam, quizzes and term project. Approximate weights are:
