Spring 2013 BIOE 4420:001 Bioengineering Senior Design Project II 3 hours, 200 – 315 pm Thursday, PL 3130 Catalog Data: [3 hours] This course integrates the engineering and life science backgrounds of senior bioengineering students through the presentation of design principles for medical devices, biological processes, and biological systems. Prerequisite: Senior Standing; BIOE 4100, BIOE 4200, BIOE 4300; MIME 2600 Textbook: Recommended books: “Biodesign: The process of innovating medical technologies,” by Zenios, Makower, and Yock, Required books “Brave New World,: by Aldous Huxley, Harper Perennial, isbn 0-06080983-3 or “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance,” by Robert Pirsig, Harper Perennial Modern Classics, isbn 978-0-06-167373-3 Topics: Student groups will propose and undertake the comprehensive design of a medical device, medical product, or medical software application to include project proposal, progress reports, a business plan, a final technical report, and a final presentation.
