See the story below. The U12 Girls Flames and Gems had a point to prove this weekend when they went head to head against each other at Alexandria Basketball Stadium. Both teams had a slow start to the game but regained their energy and the fast breaks and jump shots flowed. For the Gems play maker Amy Collins played brilliantly leading her team in all areas of the game and with point guard Jamie Gomel showed the Flames which team was stronger. In the 2nd half the Flames started to understand how effective a man to man defence could really help their cause and pressured their opponents after scoring a basket. Shai Stern and Mia Nahum assisted their team mates with some easy baskets under the ring whilst Mia Folli rebounded well. It was a fantastic game to watch and the Club really has a great group of girls with a lot of potential. If the girls stay together, in future years they will be a force to be reckoned with. Gems 18- Flames 12 ( ** Gems Play maker Amy Collins, definitely a player of the future ** )
