2016 JCC MACCABI GAMES INFORMATION & APPLICATION
Invitation to Jewish Athletes
The Rady JCC is pleased to announce that the Team Winnipeg Delegation will be attending the
2016 JCC Maccabi Games in Columbus, Ohio from July 24-29, 2016.
What are the JCC Maccabi Games?
The JCC Maccabi Games are an international Olympic style competition in a variety of events for
Jewish teens ages 13 – 16. In addition to athletic events the JCC Maccabi Games features
opportunities for Jewish youth to engage in social events with other Jewish teens from around the
world. Cultural connection with Jewish heritage and strengthening ties with Israel are also part of
the JCC Maccabi Games experience.
Applications are now being accepted for the following events:

Boys Soccer (14U and 16U)
Boys Baseball (16U)
Girls Basketball (16U)
Girls Volleyball (16U)
Girls Soccer (16U)
Individual Sports (boys and girls)
Golf (14U and 16U)
Swimming (14U and 16U)
Table Tennis (14U and 16U)
Tennis (14U and 16U)
Who is eligible?
If you are a Jewish female or male between the ages of 13 & 16 as of July 31, 2016, identify as
being Jewish, a member of the Rady JCC (or able to become a member), you may apply to attend
the JCC Maccabi Games. Successful applicants must have a valid passport and be able to travel to
the United States.
Commitment
Accepted team members are expected to make a commitment to the JCC Maccabi Games by
attending organized tryouts, team meetings, fundraising efforts, volunteer events and follow the
code of conduct. You must agree to remain at the Games for the full week and take part in all
scheduled activities. At least one parent (or family member of legal age) will be required to assist
one afternoon at a fundraising bingo (date TBD).
Selection Criteria
All delegations attending the JCC Maccabi Games are allotted a predetermined number of spots
by the JCCA in New York. Every effort will be made by the Rady JCC Maccabi Games
Committee to take all applicants. In the event the number of applicants exceed the allotment
number, additional spots will first be solicited from the JCCA. If we are unsuccessful at receiving
an allotment equal to the number of applicants, the Rady JCC Maccabi Games Committee will
use predetermined criteria to select athletes for the team.
Cost
Preliminary estimates indicate that the cost will be a maximum of $2,900.00 per athlete. This fee
may be lowered through fundraising and corporate donations. Scholarships are available. This
cost includes flight, registration fees, uniform, regalia, accommodations and food.
