MUNICIPALITY: BELTINCI

PRESENTATION

SLOVENIA / POMURJE

Municipality Beltinci is located on the left bank of the River Mura on the flat land of Prekmurje region. It covers an area of 62 square kilometres and is inhabited with 8256 people living in eight settlements (Beltinci, Bratonci, Dokle ž ovje, Gan č ani, I ž akovci, Lipa, Lipovci,

Melinci), organized as Local Communities with their unique peculiarities and local characteristics.

The main natural wealth of the municipality is in the rich fertile soil. More than half of its area is covered with fields, gardens and orchards. The

POPULATION: 8.300

Mura River together with the flood forests is especially important in the fields of ecology and environmental protection and belongs to the

European nature protection area (Natura 2000).

TITLE OF THE GOOD PRACTICE

EXPOITATION OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY FROM WELL Fi-14

CONTEXT FOR THE ACTION

Problems addressed

The use of geothermal district heating purposes in public buildings and households is of great importance to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. During the summer it would be geothermal energy used for cooling in relation to heat pumps. Maximum water in the system from the well Fi14 is 60° C.

Strategic and programmatic frameworks (Covenant of Mayors, Medeea, laws, etc.)

This project is developed parallel and also with the help of MEDEEA project and in the frame of the Covenant of Mayors and the SEAP. Oriented is towards the objectives of Kyoto protocol, to reduce energy consumption and to increase the share of renewable energy sources.

OBJECTIVES

The use of geothermal energy heating and cooling for:

Households,

Municipal buildings,

Greenhouses.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION AND METHOD FOR IMPLEMENTATION

Description and Technical Conditions Needed (know-how, competences, human resources, equipment, ...)

Low temperature of geothermal water is located throughout the whole region Pomurje in geological strata called "Mura formation". Geothermal water is at a depth of 1000 m. This layers is consisting of a variety of clays and sands. In the Mu- nicipality of Beltinci is located production well Fi14, which could supply the complexes.

Open aquifers at depths of 1046 to 1450 m have very good hydrological properties (permeability, transmis- sion) and are suitable for extracting mineral water.

The current productivity of well can be increased with the installation of submersible pumps to the corre- sponding quantities of 30-40 l/sec.

With increased number of acquired thermal mineral water raise the temperature of water at the mouth of hole by 2-3 ° C.

Preliminary chemical analysis of thermal mineral water indicates that water is not a problem for drawing.

Measure No. 8 in document SEAP of Municipaliti Beltinci

Start/end of implementation: 2012 — 2020

Regulatory and legal framework

The exploitation of the use of geothermal energy for heating in supported from all regional, national and European directi- ves in the field of RES and RUE.

RESULTS AND PROSPECTS

Results and outputs (energy/CO2 emissions saving, economic saving, social benefits, added values,

..)

Transition to a renewable energy source,

Reduction of the CO ₂ emission till 2020: 141,6 t CO ₂
