We are proud to announce the birth of our new grandson Kylen, born in June, joining Kailee, Madison and Taylor. Aren’t they beautiful? She will help us to learn how to enhance children’s love of books and to have every child ready to read. Monday, October 6 th 7pm – 9pm Joanne Newlands will be facilitating this caregiver orientation. This session is mandatory for all new LNR caregivers and will count towards the twenty hours of training in the first year. Saturday, September 27th 9am – 12pm Make and Take Child Nutrition Nadia Gairguis will be here to give us the latest update on guidelines for healthy nutrition in young children including licensing regulations. Monday, September 15 7pm – 9pm Mission Child Care Core Training The following training sessions facilitated by Joanne Newlands, (E.C.E) are intended for individuals who are interested in becoming family child care providers and for providers who have recently started operating a family child care business (either license-not-required or licensed). The training is primarily for those who have had little, or no experience, or previous training relating to family child care. Each session lists some of the key subject matter that will be covered. Space is limited to 10 participants to allow for optimum participation. This course will provide the entire 20 hours of training required in the first year. Please see the attachment for dates and more details. Please note that Agassiz/Harrison care providers are welcome to sign up for any courses or workshops being offered in Mission. In the past the majority of workshops have had to be cancelled due to low registrations. We would like to have feedback from the Agassiz/Harrison Caregivers regarding workshops. There will be a draw soon for all of the caregivers that returned toys. The prize will be announced shortly. We are making great progress in the Resource Room and have almost completed inventory and restructuring. They are in a white binder and should be labeled on the front. Also the theme kits have arrived and are currently being cleaned, updated and entered into our computer. Each kit contains a lesson plan binder and enough activities to keep you busy all month! We will have a complete list of the kits on the website under lending library very shortly. There are some that are currently ready now so please call if you would like to know what is already available. A notice via email will be sent out to all of you when the rest are ready. There will be a minimal fee of $10.00 for three weeks for each kit and only one can be borrowed at a time to ensure that everyone gets an opportunity to use the kits.
