Registering for a UT EID and QUEST
PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY!!!
STEP
1) Go to the Quest website by doing the following:
a) https://quest.cns.utexas.edu/student
b) Click on the Log IN
c) The UT EID log in screen should appear.
If you ALREADY HAVE your UT EID, login and SKIP TO Step 3 of these instructions.
If you DO NOT have an EID, follow instructions 2) next.
STEP
2) Create a UT EID (Electronic Identification) – only applies to those without an existing EID
a) Once you’re at the UT EID log in screen, click on the link next to the UT EID box that says “I
need a UT EID”
b) Follow the instructions to create a new UT EID. Start with clicking on “Get an EID” on the left
column. Here are some hints/things you need to know:
*Password: For this service, I recommend using your initials, followed by your student ID.
(It’s unlikely anyone will want to log in to do your homework for you and this will be
easy to remember since you’ll only use this once in while.)
*If the service tells you that someone else has registered with your name and birth date,
go back and create your last name including your middle initial (e.g. McDaniel A)
*Once you are assigned a UT EID, WRITE IT AND YOUR PASSWORD DOWN IN YOUR
PHYSICS NOTEBOOK (or store the info in your phone)!
c) Click on the “Logon using your UT EID” button, taking you to the log in screen. Log in! This
should take you to your Quest Homepage.
** If after logging in, if the same screen keeps reappearing: Adjust your computer settings by
going to your toolbar and dragging down “Tools” and selecting Internet Options. Select the
privacy tab. Slide the bar to “accept all cookies” and select Apply and Ok. Then log in again.
STEP
3) Register in our Quest physics class
a) Once you’re at the Quest Homepage, click on “Enroll in new course.”
b) In the box titled “Unique #,” enter the appropriate course number listed below and then click on
the button titled “Lookup course info.”

c) Under courses found, our course should be listed. Be sure it is associated with Churchill HS
and Drechsel Fall 2015. If so, click on “request enrollment.” After doing so, your homepage will
indicate that your enrollment is pending.
d) As soon as I’ve approved your enrollment, you can access your first assignment. Check back
soon. Once you’re approved, explore the site and its features.
STEP 4) Once you’re approved for enrollment, you’ll see a link to our class below the “choose a course”
heading OR in the pull down menu title “current course.” Take some time to learn how to navigate through
