Press release Continental's CSEasy SC20 for improved economy and environment protection CSEasy SC20 ensures greater mileage performance Reduces energy and fitting costs Downtimes are substantially shorter Hanover/Munich, April 2010. With the SC20, the successor to the SC15 solid tyre, Continental's Business Unit Industrial Tyres sets the highest standards in terms of economy and environment-friendliness. This applies even more so in the case of the innovative CSEasy SC20, which in its ease of handling literally revolutionises the use of solid tyres. Solid tyres are particularly suitable for tough applications involving slow-moving vehicles on surfaced ground. They offer stationary stability, are fail-safe and maintenance-free. They are used in many fields, including on forklifts, industrial tractors and heavy load transporters in logistics centres, at air- and seaports, in industrial production and in metallurgical plants quite simply, in fact, wherever high carrying capacity and economy are of overriding importance. Solid tyres have proved their worth in metallurgical plants, for example, where tons of glowing hot metal are transported, as well as in concrete recycling centres, where sharp rocks and pieces of metal can get under the tyres. "Developing the product took three years" explained Peter Szczeszak, product developer responsible for industrial tyres. "This tyre represents the very latest stage in an impressive series of successful developments achieved by engineers at Continental and it underlines the Business Unit's position as a premium supplier." Among its achievements, the SC20 boasts up to 20% higher mileage performance and at least 10% greater tread depth than the SC15; its rolling resistance is also up to 30% lower than that of the competition. Accordingly, the CO2 emissions of a forklift fitted with this tyre can be as much as 5% lower than those of a forklift fitted with a competitive product. The higher mileage performance and lower battery charging or refuelling cycles already associated with the SC15 are even more pronounced with this product. -2The introduction of the CSEasy version of the SC20 Super-Elastic tyre makes changing tyres virtually child's play. The incomparable financial benefits can be fully appreciated in everyday use. The CSEasy means enhanced flexibility - as the need for a fitting press, maintenance and transport time can all be dispensed with. Fitting itself is carried out directly on the vehicle, reducing downtime costs. The CSEasy also makes the rim pool, exchange system and special tools redundant. All that is needed for changing the tyre are two hands and a torque wrench. The adapters can be repeatedly used. The benefits of the CSEasy SC 20 at a glance: Up to 20% higher mileage performance than the SC20 An increase in mileage performance of up to 40% versus the SC15, thanks to the special design of the CSEasy SC20 Up to 6% lower energy consumption, compared with competitive solid tyres in the size 180-/70-8 through substantially reduced rolling resistance. No other Super-Elastic tyre offers more! This top product is moreover available as a nonmarking Clean tyre, in addition to the regular black tyre version. The SC20 and CSEasy SC20 are manufactured according to ISO Standard 9001. Production capacities have been increased to accommodate the high demand for them. The SC20 was brought into production according to established standards, thereby guaranteeing the highest possible quality.
