Press Release -1- Continental's aftermarket sector for car tyres in Europe and Africa now renamed EMEA EMEA - the internationally-recognised designation for Europe, Middle East and Africa Response to the enlarged distribution network in the Middle East Hanover, 29th April 2010. Continental's redesignation of its Car Tyre Aftermarket Sector Europe and Africa as EMEA - Europe, Middle East and Africa - is an organisational response to the enlarging of its importer and dealer network in the Middle East and Africa. In the regional markets of the EMEA aftermarket sector, Continental distributes tyres for both cars and commercial vehicles. "Our business division now carries an internationally recognised designation for the respective regions, which clearly reflects our growth targets in these markets. It is also designed to convey more readily the objectives of our aftermarket activities to our customers in the Middle East in particular" explained Nikolai Setzer (38), who is head of the EMEA Business Unit and also responsible for the entire car tyre division on Continental's Executive Board. Dr. Hartmut Wöhler (56) remains head of the marketing and sales activities in the renamed EMEA Car Tyre Aftermarket Sector and continues to report directly to Nikolai Setzer. In the redesignated EMEA Commercial Vehicle Tyre Sector, the head of Marketing and Distribution, Herbert Mensching (57), will continue to report to Executive Board member Dr. Hans-Joachim Nikolin (53), who is responsible for the entire commercial vehicle tyre division. Continental had already expanded its tyre sales activities in the Middle East in recent years. These included the purchase of the tyre retail chain Oltas SPA in Turkey in 2008 and the sales partnerships formed in 2009 for car and truck tyres with United Emirates for Tyres in the UAE and Almutlak Trade & Industries in Saudi Arabia.
