Continental convinces with new tyre at
inter airport Europe
 Continental Industrial Tyres presents the new tyre; complete range for airport
ground support vehicles
 Sets new standards with regard to cost effectiveness and environmental
sustainability
Hanover/Munich, October 2009. “Your Premium Partner at Zero Altitude“ – under this motto,
Continental Industrial Tyres is presenting its comprehensive tyre concepts for airport ground
support vehicles at the 17th inter airport Europe, Hall B5, Stand 830 from 6th to 9th October in
Munich.
At the centre of the trade fair presentation will be the ContiRV20, a genuine all-rounder. The
new pneumatic tyre, which was constructed specifically for industrial tractors, is the first
industrial tyre with all the important properties for reliable use of airport ground support
equipment. What makes the new high-tech tyre special: good shock absorbers and optimal
rolling resistance which, on the one hand protects the operating personnel and, on the other
hand clearly reduces fuel costs and CO2 emissions. Compared to conventional tyres, the
innovative tread profile of the ContiRV20 triggers less vibrations and shocks in the vehicle.
The wear profile is more even than with a block profile tyre. This, in turn, leads to an
extended, vibration-free service life. Through the high tread pattern percentage of the profile
and the optimised mixture of tread profiles, it has succeeded in clearly improving
performance in wet and black ice conditions. The radial pneumatic tyre which is also suitable
for use in production plants, plant engineering and construction as well as in logistic centres
stands out due to having up to 50 percent longer service life compared with a cross-ply
pneumatic tyre.
Also on show in the Continental programme at inter airport Europe: The Super Elastic SC20
tyre – a solid tyre up to 25 km/h which achieves low rolling resistance and longer vehicle
miles travelled due to its innovative construction. One is transported reliably on paved and
.../2
-2smooth surfaces with it and one can clearly transport higher stacks than with pneumatic
tyres. The IC40 rounds off the exhibition presentation from Continental. Here, optimal tread
design produces high driving comfort and good traction whilst the large tread depth affords
this fork-lift tyre exceptionally high operating efficiency. Not least, the tyre has particularly
sturdy side walls which provide great stability.
More stability, better traction, high driving comfort and clearly energy saving: The Continental
tyre sets totally new standards for fastidious and versatile use at the airport. At the same
time, Continental is a tyre producer who not only provides a complete product range of
industrial tyres, but also a full range for airport ground support vehicles. With its presence at
