Press Release -1- SC20 – the Solid Industrial Tire • Rolling resistance up to 30 percent lower than that of the competition • Greater economy and environmental compatibility • CSEasy SC20 ensures additional greater mileage performance • Reduces energy and fitting costs Hanover, February 2011. With the SC20, the Industrial Tires business unit of Continental Reifen Deutschland GmbH sets highest standards regarding cost-efficiency and environmental compatibility. With a tire life up to 20 percent longer and a tread depth as much as 10 percent greater compared to its predecessor SC15, and a rolling resistance as much as 30 percent lower than that of the competition, the SC20 gives an impressive performance. On a forklift, it thus reduces CO2 emissions by as much as 5 percent in comparison to a forklift equipped with competitor tires. The benefits presented already by the SC15 tire – longer service life and shorter battery charging and refueling times – are even more evident with the SC20. This applies even more so in the case of the innovative CSEasy SC20, which in its ease of handling literally revolutionises the use of solid tyres. The german plant in Korbach/ Hesse has been producing solid-rubber industrial tires since 1907. Continental has developed Super-Elastic tires (solid tires) for conventional pneumatic tire rims for industrial applications since 1965. Tires of this special construction have the task of transporting, stacking and lifting heavy goods with the help of in-plant vehicles, forklifts, industrial tractors, heavy-goods transporters and many other special vehicles. The SC20 tire is manufactured there in accordance with the ISO 9001 standard. Plant capacities were expanded for the production of the tire to keep up with the expected high demand. Production of the SC20 was launched according to established standards, thus ensuring highest possible quality assurance. The SC20 is available in a broad range of sizes. Solid-rubber tires are ideally suited for heavy-duty applications on slow-moving vehicles on paved surfaces. They exhibit stationary stability, are breakdown-proof and maintenance-free. Applications for the tires include forklifts, industrial tractors or heavy-goods transporters in logistics centers, airports and harbors, in industrial production and in smelteries – so .../2 -2wherever a high carrying capacity and cost efficiency are paramount. Solid rubber tires prove their worth for instance in smelteries where glowing metal weighing several tonnes is transported, or in concrete recycling where sharp-edged chunks and metal pieces get under the tires. The SC20 is available in over 60 sizes. It is also available as non-marking, light-colored clean tire and as antistatic tire. The introduction of the CSEasy version of the SC20 Super-Elastic tyre makes changing tyres virtually child's play. The incomparable financial benefits can be fully appreciated in everyday use. The CSEasy means enhanced flexibility - as the need for a fitting press, maintenance and transport time can all be dispensed with. Fitting itself is carried out directly on the vehicle, reducing downtime costs. The CSEasy also makes the rim pool, exchange system and special tools redundant. All that is needed for changing the tyre are two hands and a torque wrench. The adapters can be repeatedly used. The benefits of the CSEasy SC 20 at a glance: Up to 20% higher mileage performance than the SC20 An increase in mileage performance of up to 40% versus the SC15, thanks to the special design of the CSEasy SC20 Up to 6% lower energy consumption, compared with competitive solid tyres in the size 180-/70-8 through substantially reduced rolling resistance. No other Super-Elastic tyre offers more! This top product is moreover available as a nonmarking Clean tyre, in addition to the regular black tyre version.
