Developing Countries Committee Plan 2004-2007

General Objectives:
Initiate, coordinate and oversee activities of "toxicological" interest
to member societies from developing countries.
To get in touch with the toxicologists and groups of toxicologists in developing
countries that do not have any toxicology society, so as to contribute to the development of
toxicology in these countries and to help these groups in establishing national toxicological
societies.
Specific Objectives:
1. Identify toxicology societies from developing countries.
2. Identify needs and main topics of interest to toxicology societies
in developing countries.
3. Organize --in cooperation with the Career Development Commission-- continuing
education courses that focus on the regional needs of developing countries.
4. Identify toxicologist in developing countries that do not currently
have toxicology societies
5. "Help with the organization the 6th Congress of Toxicology in
Developing Countries in 2006 "
6. Organization of the 7th Congress of Toxicology in Developing
Countries in 2009
General Tasks:
1. Develop a questionnaire that can be used to identify the needs and
main topics of interest to member societies in developing countries as well
as to ask for information about these societies (for IUTOX Newsletter),
their officers and their aims and goals for the next three years.
2. Work with the Membership and Society Development Commission to
encourage establishment of toxicology societies in developing countries that
do not currently have such societies.
3. Work in what fashion is necessary to help ensure that the 6th
Congress of Toxicology in Developing Countries is a success.
4. Call for bids for the venue of the 7th Congress of Toxicology in
Developing Countries and help with the preliminary organization of the
Congress
Specific Tasks:
1. Work with the DC committee to develop the appropriate questionnaire
(see item 2 above)
2. Identify at least five developing countries with no toxicology
society and work with individuals in those countries to encourage and help
them form a local society of toxicology.
3. Work with selected societies of toxicology in several developing
countries to help them develop proposals for 7th CTDC.

1. Contact members of the Committee (August, 2004)
2. Prepare the plan for the Developing Countries Committee
(September, 2004)
2a. Develop a budget for the Developing Countries Committee
(October, 2004)
3. Contact member societies in developing countries of IUTOX
(January, 2005)
4. Develop questionnaire (February, 2005)
5. Email Questionnaire to member societies (March, 2005)
6. Report on the questionnaire (May, 2005)
7. Develop list of developing countries without toxicology
societies and toxicologist in those countries (April, 2005)
8. Have 5 new societies of toxicology from developing countries to
present to IUTOX (January, 2006)
9. Have 2 or more societies of toxicology from developing countries
ready to bid on the 7th CTDC (January, 2006)
