It cannot make us good. Today Jesus challenges us to examine what our real motives are when we gather for our worship and when we live our Christian lives. SURVIVE MIVA – Missionary Vehicle Assocation will give an appeal this Sunday. They are the only UK-based Catholic Lay Association funding transport in the developing world. See their website www.survive-miva.org. CAFOD SAFARI SUPPER – Saturday 15th September The CAFOD group are organising a Safari Supper on Saturday 15th September. What is a Safari Supper? The Safari Supper is organised in pairs. Each pair provides one course of the Supper for two other pairs at their own home, either a starter, main course or pudding. At the end of each course each pair is given an envelope to say where they go for their next course. They then move on to a different address from the other pairs. The idea being that you have 3 courses in three different locations with six other pairs of people. Oh! And you don’t get to know who you are meeting at each house! At the end of the evening everybody involved in the Safari Supper then moves on to a final venue where we all meet up for a party and raffle. This is a great way to meet lots of people in the Parish, and a fun way to raise money for CAFOD at the same time. The cost to enter is £25 per pair, all of which goes directly to CAFOD. Places will be limited to 40 pairs, so if you are interested in participating, please secure your place by contacting Stuart Sanderson on 07585 900750. REFLECTION – Cleanness of heart Today pollution has become a big issue, and rightly so. People want clean water, clean air, and clean food. But we should be even more concerned about the most dangerous pollution of all, namely, evil. Pride, anger, hate, lust, greed, envy … All these are dangerous pollutants. So what must we do? We must purify the source; the heart is the source. it is the well-spring from which all our thoughts, words, and deeds flow. If the heart is clean, all that flows from it will be clean. Blessed are the clean of heart: they shall see God.
