Rationale/Justification for course: (Please include evidence of
student need, i.e., assessment, research, surveys, etc.)
The fundamental change is that the course will no longer have to be taught
specifically with Apple’s Logic software. That opens the course up to be taught
with any Digital Audio workstation, or perhaps even multiple ones.
Logic Pro could be discontinued at any point (Apple discontinued it’s Soundtrack
Pro recording software a few years ago), and if so that would necessitate a course
and program change.
As mentioned above, this modification allows the course to be taught with a
different, or multiple Digital Audio Workstations. Currently, the DMP - Audio
Engineering program offers Digital Audio Workstation courses only for Logic and
Pro Tools. Changing the course name allows for Instructors to choose from a
variety of different software to teach. Instructors could also touch on multiple
different DAWs to demonstrate the differences and similarities between different
software.

Special Considerations: (Days/Times course should be offered.)

could possibly be offered as a Hybrid.

be required, please discuss intended supplemental materials.)
This is the current book, but of course it could change based on the future of the
course.
