JUNIOR BIBLE SYLLABUS STILLWATER CHRISTIAN SCHOOL Junior Bible 2005-06 Instructor: Mr. Tinkham Course Objective: This course introduces you to the systematic study of Scripture. We will briefly consider the major content areas of theology in order to develop a full understanding of the Bible. Rather than limiting our work to Bible study techniques, we will look at major theological categories emphasized throughout church history. Our second semester book study in Romans, then, will employ Bible study techniques in light of our systematic understanding of the text. You will receive a solid foundation of theological training on which to build, applying what you have learned in next year’s Apologetics class and beyond. Course Outline: The course is divided by semester. First we will consider seven major areas of doctrine. In the second semester we will study the book of Romans. Course elements include: I. II. III. IV. V. Reading. Our 1st semester text is Know the Truth. Our 2nd semester texts are Commentary on Romans and The Doctrines that Divide. Reading Quizzes. Each week you will be quizzed on your assigned readings. These quizzes are designed to test basic comprehension. You will not be tricked. Careful reading will produce good results. Quizzes will normally be given on Wednesdays. Writing Assignment. Know the Truth includes questions at the end of each chapter. You are to select one set of questions from the following list: A. Questions 2-5, page 38. B. Questions 1-4, page 105. C. Questions 1,3,4 & 7, page 148. D. Questions 1,2,4 & 5, page 214. Thoroughly complete the questions and type your answers. This assignment is due the 9th of November. Bible Memory. You will be memorizing Psalm 139 in the 1st semester and Romans 8 in the 2nd semester. See attached schedule. Each semester will include two tests covering reading, lectures, and discussion. Texts: The Holy Bible, NIV. You will need to bring your Bibles to class. Luther, Martin.
