Dear Parent/Carer
We are holding a first ever Solihull school’s Massed (it is Mass I made this massed word up) Orchestra
Project on Monday 7th March 2016 which we hope pupils from all our secondary schools will come together
to perform. We are proud to announce the event will take place at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
Our aims are:
 To provide primary (Delete as this applies to secondary too) pupils with the opportunity to play in a
large orchestra.
 For pupils to desk share with younger students to aid transition and encourage them to continue
playing at secondary school.
 To begin to establish a musical community with our other secondary schools.
Solihull Music Service in partnership with our schools will provide parts for pupils to learn as part of their
weekly instrumental lesson of pieces that have been part of the BBC Ten Pieces projects.
On the day, pupils will need to arrive by 1.30pm. Schools will either use their own mini bus or pupils will be
expected to make their own way to the venue. They will attend rehearsals lead by Solihull Music Staff
from 2.30pm until 5pm (the mass orchestra will also rehearse the pieces for the concert).
Please will you complete and sign the attached consent form and return to your child’s school by
December 18th 2015.
The evening concert will start at 7pm and will feature the Massed Orchestra and feature performances
from selected Solihull pupils. We would be delighted if you were able to join us for this special event.
Adult tickets are priced at £9 whilst tickets for children and concessions are £6. Tickets are available from
