This degree allows students to transfer to other colleges and universities in the state in order to pursue a Bachelor's degree and allows graduates to enter the work force immediately. Degree holders are prepared to enter a field that projections show is the fourth fastest growing occupation in the United States. Professions in the field of Human Services include human and social services assistants, social work, counseling, psychology, mental health, disability and support services, and alcohol and drug abuse counseling. As Human Service professionals, graduates reach out to individuals, to families, and to communities. The Human Service program provides the broad understanding to help others meet their psychological, social, and environmental needs. Students who get a degree in Human Services with an emphasis as a Generalist may find employment in a variety of settings such as community centers, group homes, substance abuse centers, assisted living, etc. Those who study Human Services with a focus on Substance Abuse may find jobs in substance abuse centers (residential, detox, hospitals) as counselors or counselors-intraining.
