(First ten years as enlisted.) Military specialties include morse intercept operator, intercept equipment repair, order of battle specialist, Army intelligence special agent, Army aviator in both helicopter and fixed wing, airborne paratrooper, infantry/military intelligence officer, and various command positions ranging from platoon to battalion level. 1976 – Attained employment as pilot/Chief Pilot for Business Express, a regional airline flying predominately in the Northeast. 1977 – Minor partner in Chippewa Air Commuter, a new start-up regional carrier in Manistee, MI. Served as pilot, Chief Pilot and Director of Operations. Instrumental in attaining Federal Aviation Authority certification and Department of Transportation authorization to conduct commuter operations. Bankrupt due to lack of market and sufficient income to cover operational costs. 1978 – Joined AeroMech Airlines, an Allegheny Commuter, out of Clarksburg, WV as a pilot. Later served as Chief Pilot and Director of Operations. Left to seek career opportunity after merger with Wright Airlines. 1984 – Joined Comair Airlines as Chief Pilot/Director of Operations. Primary agent in obtaining FAA authorization to conduct FAR 121 operations. Responsibilities included pilot and flight attendant hiring and administration, training, payroll, crew scheduling, aircraft dispatching and daily flight operations. 1987 – Promoted to Vice President, Flight Operations. Responsible for complete administration, planning and execution of both short and long term goals of the department to support the key performance objectives of the company. Established and administered overall department budget. Responsibilities also included acting as Chief Negotiator for three pilot contracts with the Airline Pilots Association International. 1987-1995 – In addition to VP, Flight Operations, held positions as Director of Operations, Comair Jet Express (FAR 135 charter on demand), Vice President, Comair Aviation Academy, and President, Comair Services. 1995 – Vice President, Corporate Safety. Tasked by the Chief Operating Officer to establish a corporate safety department to reduce and prevent aircraft accidents and incidents, reduce and eliminate workers compensation injuries and oversee compliance issues with OSHA and EPA standards. Designed and instituted Internal Audit Process. Duties included establishing matrix and key performance indicators to measure effectiveness of developed and instituted programs 1997 – Vice President, Flight Operations and Corporate Safety. Responsible for negotiating modified language to address contractual work rule issues on compensation, training and hours of service. Continued to fulfill the duties and responsibilities regarding Flight Operations and Corporate Safety. 1999 – Vice President, In-Flight Services and Corporate Safety. Responsible for providing leadership and administration of the InFlight Service Department, while maintaining responsibility for Corporate Safety. 2001 – Vice President, Vendor Operations, Delta AirElite Business Jets. Responsible for designing a systemic approach to measure the overall safety and efficiency of prospective vendors to provide supplemental lift to AirElite charter operations. Process included a formal on-site review of manuals, standard operating procedures, best practices, interview of corporate leadership and overall compliance history. 2003 – Aviation Consultant and Auditor for Aviation Research Group/U.S. Inc. conducting compliance and safety audits for contracted corporate and business aviation organizations.
