MABAS Wisconsin Division 112 Training “STANDARDIZED RADIO TRANSMISSIONS” With switching to the new 700 Digital Radio System, it was agreed upon to standardize communications throughout the county. Every effort should be made to use the standard. Although Green Bay Metro Fire will operate very similarly, for this Training Bulletin, we will focus on department’s using Brown County Fire Dispatch. When an incident is dispatched on Brown County Fire Main the agency being dispatched will provide an immediate acknowledgement of the call on Brown County Fire Main. This acknowledgement should include: agency, the incident type, the address, and talk group assigned. EXAMPLE: Dispatch: Howard Engine 211 at 2456 Glendale for the fire alarm. Cross Streets of Velp and Harwood Map 18Q Use TAC 6 Time 15:47 Howard Fire: Dispatch from Howard Fire BC Dispatch: Howard Fire Howard Fire: Howard Fire has the alarm at 2456 Glendale, handling on Tac 6. All subsequent radio traffic regarding this incident will occur on the assigned talk group (tactical talk groups, EMS talk group or interop groups). This includes apparatus going en-route for the incident as well as apparatus clearing from the incident. Upon arrival of the first apparatus or officer a first in report should be transmitted along with Command being established. The first in report should include the following: Type of structure: single family, multi family, commercial, industrial, etc Conditions found on arrival: smoke, fire, working fire, nothing showing Actions being taken: Investigating, Offensive Attack, Defensive Attack EXAMPLE: HWFD on Tac 6: Brown County from Howard Fire BC Dispatch: Howard Fire HWFD on Tac 6: Howard Engine 211 is on scene of a 2 story multi-family apartment building with nothing showing. Engine 211 will be investigating and Engine 211 officer will be Glendale Command. When clearing the scene, contact dispatch on the assigned Tac Channel and inform them that all apparatus and personnel have cleared the scene and Command has been terminated. This will clear the Tac Channel to be used for another incident. Upgraded/ Multi-Alarm Incidents: When an incident is upgraded past the Still Alarm level it is recommended that additional Tac Channel’s be used for responding units and staging. If dispatch does not assign an additional Tac, one should be requested by Incident Command. Department’s responding on the upgraded alarms will answer the dispatch on Brown County Fire Main and then switch to and respond on the assigned Tac channel, just like the Still Alarm. It is recommended that responding unit’s stay on the assigned staging Tac channel until they arrive on the scene and are notified to switch to the Fireground Tac channel. An additional Tac may also want to be requested for water shuttle operations. This will allow the Water Boss and Tender’s to communicate without interruption. Multi Agency Incident: Having Fire, Law, EMS, etc. along with a Unified Command on the same Tac while operating or working on an incident will be advantageous (Water Rescue, Missing Person, etc.) If not already assigned an Interop Tac, the IC should request an Interop Tac and have all agencies move to and operate on the Interop Tac.
