About FIU Department of Architecture With over 450 students, the Department of Architecture educates students in the profession of architecture to become thoughtful practitioners and critical thinkers. Students arrive at various points in their educational careers—as freshmen, as third-year transfer students, and as graduate students to pursue an accredited, professional Master of Architecture degree. The school also offers a post-professional Masters of Arts in Architecture in which students have opportunities to teach, research, and explore independent topics in close collaboration with our full-time faculty. As a Department residing in the College of Architecture and the Arts (CARTA), we engage in interdisciplinary and innovative collaborative research projects. Position Description The Department of Architecture in the College of Architecture + The Arts at Florida International University invites applications for a nine-month tenure-earning position to commence in August 2016. The department seeks an effective teacher and scholar who will be active in both the professional and post-professional Masters degree programs, will pursue funding opportunities for research and creative activities, and will engage in the intellectual advancement of the field through peer-reviewed publications. Primary teaching responsibilities include courses in Integrated Building Systems, Green Building Technologies, Environmental Systems as well as interdisciplinary building and sustainability design studios. Applicants with an excellent knowledge of building technologies, analysis and modelling software tools, digital fabrication and/or advanced digital modeling are encouraged to apply. Typically courses will include graduate lecture courses, elective seminars, and two design studios per year. Salary, rank and teaching assignments are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Qualifications Applicants should have a master degree in Architecture. Candidates with PhD and/or Architectural license will be given priority. Teaching experience at a graduate program is also preferred.
