SUMMER JUNIOR TENNIS LEAGUE PROGRAM
June 11 – August 3, 2012
Juniors 18 years and under are invited to sign up for Rancho Colorados’ Junior Tennis Summer Program. The
Summer Program will give Rancho kids the opportunity to play tennis at their appropriate level, as a member of a
team, promoting sportsmanship, camaraderie and fun! The program runs for 8 weeks, beginning on June 11th, and
ending with a tournament the week of July30th. Rancho Colorados will field two types of teams, a Performance Team
and a Developmental Team.
Performance Team Player: For the advanced beginner through experienced players. For the junior who knows
how to score, serve from the baseline, and maintain a 3- to 4-ball rally using the whole court with a regulation or
green dot ball. Team will be divided into age groups.
Developmental Team Player: For emerging players between the ages of 8 and 12 years who have
participated in clinics that past year but are not quite ready for match play. Players are able to do a short rally
with the soft transitional ball and have limited serving ability, but can serve underhand from the 60-foot court.
They will play only intra-club matches on Wednesdays or Thursdays.
TEAM PRACTICE. Players will attend practice in their respective age groups. Practice activities include tennis drills,
stroke instruction, and game playing under the direction of John, and staff.
TEAM PRACTICE SCHEDULE.
Developmental Team: Same as Performance Team
Performance Team:
10 and Under: Mondays and Fridays, 1:00 – 2:30 pm
12 and Under: Mondays and Fridays, 2:30 – 4:00 pm
13 and over: Mondays and Fridays, 4:00 – 5:30 pm
MATCH PLAY. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays players will play a match. The day of the match
depends on which group the player is in. The schedule for the entire season will be posted before the end of the first
week of practice based on availability submitted on applications. Once the schedule is set, parents must find subs if
their kids are unable to participate in a match.
