(1) Getting Started

Junior Sunday Coaching
 Operates over two semesters each year. 2011/12 season from 30th October
– 11th December 2011 and 11th February – 25th March 2012.
 4 x one hour coaching sessions operate between 8.30am – 12.30pm;
 Players are grouped based on experience and age, and we’ll notify you of
the group you’re in.
 Each group has maximum participants of 10;
 General age guide 8-17 years;
 General introduction to tennis e.g. how to hold a racquet, serving, forehand,
backhand.
(2) Junior Interclub








All players must be 17 years or younger as of 1 October 2011.
Operates over two semesters each year. 2011/12 season is:
 Grades – Boys Novice, Boys & Girls A, B, C & D play on Sundays. 30th
Oct – 11th Dec 2011 & 12th Feb – 1sth April 2012.
 Grades – Girls Novice, Boys & Girls Regional play on Saturday mornings.
29th Oct – 10th Dec 2011 & 11th Feb -31st March 2012.
All interclub fixtures are organised by Wellington Tennis.
Matches consist of 2 x Doubles matches and 4 x Singles matches.

Team practices operate Monday – Thursday afternoons, (approx 3.30-6pm). All
players are expected to attend all practices, as part of their commitment to the
team. NTC currently employees coaching staff from TransTasmanTennis.
The NTC Junior Committee will select the teams and their decision is final.
Where required, trials may be held to establish the appropriate grade/team for a
player. The committee will also take into consideration the previous season’s
performance of the player.
Junior First Timers
 For those players wanting to play interclub for the first time you must be
able to:
i. Complete the basics of a serve action, i.e. able to get the ball over the
net using a serve action;
ii. Complete a rally of at least 3-4 shots;
iii. Understand the basic scoring and procedures of tennis, i.e. know when
to change ends, when to serve, where to stand on the court.
 For new interclub players the NTC Junior Committee will arrange a time for
players to come down and have a game to ensure they meet the minimum
standards.
 Priority will be given to players who have completed Sunday coaching in
the previous season.
