This questionnaire collects information about a new or proposed position so that the role description can
accurately reflect the duties and responsibilities of the role. This form is to be completed by those who
understand the requirements of the role including the person currently in the job in consultation with their
Director/Principal/Manager.
When answering the questions, please:
1. Concentrate only on the job and not the person in the job. E.g. If the current person in the job won the
lotto and didn’t return to work tomorrow what measurable skills and duties would the next person need to
do the job well?
2. Provide information to assist the evaluators to understand the complexities of the role, duties
responsibilities specific to your work location

1. What levels of knowledge/skills are necessary to perform the duties of the position?
(e.g.: formal training, work experience, mandatory or desired tertiary qualification)

(e.g. is the position singularly focused, does it perform a range of related or unrelated tasks, within one activity or across a range of
activities or a broad organisational function

3. What level of interpersonal skills is used in performing the duties of the position?

5. What is the level and extent of decision-making by the position?

6. What level of analysis, conceptualisation, interpretation, evaluation and problem-solving does the

advice provided?
(e.g. degree of freedom to develop and / or deliver a service / product / information; level of autonomy in developing policy
12. Do you consider this role to be comparable to any existing roles within the organisation?
