Students create flashcards to be graded.

Chapter 31 Vocabulary
Roman Town/Apartment vocabulary
Objectives for the activity: (Instructional focus for this activity which is more specific
than the mastery objectives for the unit/chapter: What do you want the students to be
able to do at the end of this activity?)
The students will be able to define the vocabulary of Chapter 30 of Ecce Romani II
to build their English vocabulary skills.
They will be able to use derivatives in the colloquial speech.
Directions for the activity: (Use active verb commands: Distribute handouts, Have
students…, Divide students into small groups…) Indicate if it is an introductory activity,
guided, or independent practice)
1. Introduce the Powerpoint as being on the vocabulary
2. Hand out packet to each student.
3. On the worksheet, the students will fill out the animated flash cards
 Student will fill in the dictionary definition, the words part of speech, and
derivatives.


Students will draw their own images for the vocabulary words in the space
provided.
After the last word has been shown to the class, bring up a master slide screen so
they can make sure they have written down every word.
Bring class back to the group when most are finished with at least a few word
(students may do it as the powerpoint is progressing).
Have students bring up their picture up and show the class using the document
camera (volunteers first, then random selection).
 The Latin Word and picture will be visible but the definition and derivative
will be covered.
 Ask students at random for the definition of the word.
End presentations after each student has shown one animated flashcard.
