Required Text Finite Math & Applied Calculus, 4th Edition, Vol. I, by Waner and Costenoble (this is a custom book for EPCC and UTEP – the page numbering is the same as in the entire 4th edition). B. Materials Scientific calculators are required, graphing calculators are recommended For Quizzes/HW need WebAssign username and access key (see addendums 1 and 2). III. Course Requirements A. Revised, Fall 2008 B. Exams Four unit tests will be given plus a comprehensive final exam. There are no retests or make-up exams. There are no extra credit assignments. Each exam will count 100 points with the lowest grade of the unit exams to be replaced by the final exam grade, if it is to the student’s advantage. Each student is required to take all the four exams and the final exam. The final grade for the course will be assigned according to the scale found in part A: C. Make up Exams: There will be no make up exams D. IV. There will be a grade for homework (which is collected and graded) and/or done online on WebAssign. This grade will be worth the same amount as an exam (100 points total look at part A) and will be included when computing the final grade for this course. Late homework will not be accepted. Mandatory 1hr/week dedicated to WebAssign. Instructor’s Policies A. Cheating Students will be dropped from this course for cheating. Cheating consists of submitting someone else's work under your name, obtaining information from someone other than the instructor during an exam, making copies of disks (either program or work/files), etc. The duplication of program disks is prohibited by law and punishable by fine. B. Attendance--Drops It is the student's responsibility to attend class as per the schedule. It is also the student's responsibility to withdraw from the course for whatever reason. The instructor assumes no responsibility for student withdrawal from the course or for the completion of student's course work. The last day to withdraw is Friday, April 17. Course expectations are outlined in this syllabus. C. “I” Grade I (incomplete) grades are assigned whenever the appropriate assignments and deadlines are met. To be eligible for an incomplete grade, a student must have at least 80% of the course work completed with at least a 75% average. . D. No Disruptive Devices: No cell phones during class.
