Western Washington University is a comprehensive liberal arts university in northwest Washington State. Fall
2010 enrollment included 14,979 students. About 140 international students, principally from Asia, Canada, and
Western Europe are also enrolled at Western.
Western is large enough to offer tremendous choice in academic programs, people to meet, and things to do,
yet small enough that you won't get lost in the crowd, http://admissions.wwu.edu/visit/ .
Location
Western Washington University is situated in Bellingham, a city of approximately 80,000 overlooking Bellingham
Bay and many of Puget Sound’s 172 San Juan Islands. The University is 90 miles north of Seattle, 60 miles south
of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and an hour’s drive from the ski area on 10,778-foot Mount Baker. The water and
mountains of the Pacific Northwest are popular attractions, as are the nearby cultural centers of Seattle and
Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Academics
Western offers a variety of academic opportunities for students,
