This year the Green Residence Certification program is reaching out to all WWU students living on
campus to help in making our university one of the nation’s leader in sustainable dorm living. If you care
about the environment and want to make a difference, we call upon YOU to join us in the GRC program
and apply today!

Energy:
1. Do you turn off all computers, printers, or copiers overnight, during breaks, or when gone?
2. Have you replaced screw-in incandescent bulbs in floor and desk lamps with CFL or LED bulbs?
3. Do you make a conscious effort to turn off all lights when leaving rooms and while sleeping? This
includes common areas such as restrooms, living rooms, and kitchens.
4. Do you use natural lighting or task lighting whenever possible and turn off overhead lighting?
5. Do you close your room’s windows and doors when the heating system is active?
6. Do you close the blind at night and before leaving for weekends or breaks during cold weather?
7. Do you manage personal comfort level with clothing (sweaters, etc.) rather than with space
heaters or by increasing the thermostat during cold weather?

9. Do you unplug appliances or plug them into a power strip and shut it off when you are out, at
night, or when leaving for breaks?
