Experience Detail
Currently Working with TNB Liberty Power Limited (235 MW - Malaysian owned Combined Cycle Power
Plant at Mirpur Mathelo) as Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) from January 1st 2010 to date.
Responsibilities
Maintenance, Planning and Condition Monitoring of Rotary & Stationary Equipments
 Preparing & implementation of Annual Preventive Maintenance Plan for Equipment and review of
routine/scheduled maintenance.
 Scheduled condition monitoring of rotary equipment including centrifugal pumps, reciprocating
pumps, electric motors, centrifugal compressors, screw type compressor, steam turbines,
gearboxes, ID /FD fans.
 Maintenance, troubleshooting of centrifugal pumps, gearboxes, fans, blowers, compressors,
motors etc.
 On Call vibration monitoring of rotary equipment.
 Inspection and Follow up the preventive maintenance schedule of Utilities machinery.
 Performed and executed scheduled and On call Temperature monitoring for Bearings, Gear box
Oil sump etc.
 Sound assessment for any abnormality in the machinery.
 Data acquisition with vibration analyzer, setup routes for machines, loading-unloading vibration
data for machines.
 Review the trend of vibration signatures /vibration spectrum to diagnose probable causes.
 Keep update machine vibration history and repair-maintenance records for reference.
 Ability to develop vibration monitoring system for machinery.
 Inspection and Load testing of overhead cranes, mobile cranes, winches, elevator, fork lifters.
 Ability to manage and control spares inventory.
 Inspection of overhauling of compressors, Diesel Gensets, steam turbine, BFW pump, Cooling
tower fans and gearboxes etc.
 Provide guidance to the staff and coordination with seniors and vendors.
 Understand and analyze the causes of failures; implement best practices specific to root cause
analysis and recommending corrective actions to deals with abnormalities.
 Hands on maintenance installation and commissioning experience of low to high rated pumps &
other rotary machineries.
 Material & Spares arrangement prior to shutdown; Reviewing of critical spares and maintain the
inventory at safe level all times.
 Annul Budgets, Planning, Scheduling, Supervising of Routine Preventive Maintenance and
Shutdown planning.
 Maintain QHSE, OHSAS & ISO 9001 standards within department.
 Holding of Tool Box Talks & Risk Assessment on regular basis.

MW Combined Cycle Power Plant Daharki from March 12th 2008 to date.
Erection & Commissioning
a)
Gas Turbine
Installation & commissioning of GE Gas Turbine Generator set (Frame 9E Model MS9001E),
mainly low BTU gas firing, with high speed diesel as back up. GT is capable of operating in open
cycle via bypass stack with necessary isolating devices, hands on experience for the installation &
commissioning of following gas turbine auxiliaries:
- Gas & Fuel system
- Water Injection System
- Fuel Oil heating system
- Compressor Washing Skid
- Lube Oil System
- Inlet Air System
a)
Heat Recovery Steam Generator
Installation & commissioning of One HRSG directly connected to the GT exhaust plenum via
ON/OFF bypass stack diverter damper, without supplementary firing system, dual pressure with
HP superheated steam around 520.6°C/80.62 bar , LP superheated Steam to feed LP steam
Header, around 294.7°C/13.6 bar (about) at HRSG outlet HP and LP header.

Steam Turbine
Hands on Experience for the installation & commissioning of single casing multi-stage (Total 36
Reaction stages) condensing type steam turbine manufactured by FUJI ELECTRIC SYSTEMS,
JAPAN having rated output 64,180 kW (Case 01) - HP steam pressure at main stop valve 75.84
bar - HP steam temperature at main stop valve 517.62 °C - LP steam pressure at strainer 12.59
bar - LP steam temperature at strainer 292.79 °C - Exhaust pressure 0.0711 bar - Rated speed
3,000 rpm - Direction of rotation Clockwise (view from generator side).
Setting, Leveling & coordinating of Embedded Parts (Anchor Bolts, Jack Posts, Level Benchmarks,
Sub-sole and Sole Plates) for Steam Turbine & Generator Foundation.
Installation of Bearings (Thrust & Journal)
Overall Assembly including Lower Casing half, Glands/Labyrinth Seal, Turbine Rotor, Inner casing
parts, Upper casing half, Measurement of clearances (axial and radial), checking of rotor
movement, overall centering, Tightening of bolts, Installation of main stop valve, admission and
control valves, Grouting and Turbine Generator Alignment by Dial Indicator method.
b) Steam Surface Condenser

The surface condenser erected contains 5,866 m2 of effective condensing surface in one (1)
rectangular shell, The surface condenser consists of two (2) shell sections (2 pass), one (1)
transition section, one (1) extended neck, one (1) main expansion joint, two (2) inlet/outlet
water boxes, two (2) reversing water boxes and miscellaneous ship loose components along with
vacuum ejection system.

Condensate Extraction Pumps
Installation & Commissioning of two vertical shaft type mixed flow CE Pumps.
Boiler Feed water Pumps
Installation & Commissioning of two Boiler feed water pumps having capacity of 230m3/hr (each)
for transferring water to HP/LP drums.
e) Emergency Black Start Diesel Generators

Installation & Commissioning of two Black Start Diesel Generators having capacity of 2.7 MW
(each) for providing smooth power supply in initial start up of GT and during turn around tenure.
f) Air Compressors

Installation & Commissioning of two reciprocating air compressors with air dryer skid for plant
service and instrument air.
g) Chemical Dosing System / Sampling System / N2 Gas System
Installation & Commissioning of One Chemical Dosing System for the proper injection of
chemicals of Oxygen Scavenger, Ammonia, Tri-Sodium Phosphate and Corrosion Inhibitor,
Ammonia dosing to maintain pH value and to prevent corrosion in the closed cooling water
circuit.
Responsibilities




Reporting to Manager Mechanical for performing first line leading role in supervising/managing
and directing the team of eleven members including erection supervisor, fabricators, fitters,
millwrights and helpers for the activities of erection works in accordance with the erection
procedures and instructions, Maintaining the work quality, preparing action plans and taking the
necessary action to rectify the situation in case of any deviation.
Plan and implement activities for the successful execution of equipments by considering all HSEQ
standards by reviewing drawings (GA, Isometrics, P&IDs and PFDs), Checking of tolerances,
Elevations, dimensions, orientations, co-ordinates, Leveling, verticality, run-out, Alignment
(Radial, Axial), transportation, storage and Installation procedures, Technical Data Sheets, MSDS
for Chemicals and Gases, Mill Test Certificates (MTC), ITPs, method statements and Rigging Plan.
Prepared Daily, Weekly and Monthly Progress reports.
Review, Monitor and control various project activities as assigned in Master Project Schedule
(Level 4).










Managed Construction contractors and motivated them to perform job at site as per company
policy and International HSEQ standards.
Conducted effective meetings with client and sub-contractors for reviewing and commenting
meeting agendas, answers to client questions and detailed discussions on various issues.
Assisted technical field advisors (GE, Fuji, OGS and Fortune Electric etc.)
Maintain the workplace neat and clean by providing action plans for Housekeeping, On-site talk to
inspire and motivate to follow HSEQ regulations.
Resolve problems and abnormal condition and take decisive actions in emergency, equipment
failure or any procedure deviations.
Monitor various equipments at site like welding plants, grinders, drill machines and other electric
operated equipments to ensure safe and smooth working conditions.
Develop and review Erection Procedures.
Member of ERT for the back up in any emergency

Comply with all EH&S, Corporate and Regulatory rules and procedures.
b) Piping and Steel Structure Fabrication

Review WPS/PQR in accordance with ASME Section IX.

Inspection of pipe fit ups as per isometrics, calculation of dia. inches, preparation of daily fit up
and welding progress reports.

Interpretation of weld radiographs, pointing out various weld defects in association with NDT
third party.

Review, comment and prepare work procedures for .

Thesis / Project


“Integrated Systems for the improvement of Power Plant Efficiency” In this dissertation work
detailed study at combined cycle power station (GTPS Kotri) was carried out, fortunately in thesis
tenure one Gas Turbine overhauling was in progress:
Participated in the major overhauling of 25 MW Gas Turbine make M/s Hitachi Japan at 174 MW
Gas Turbine Power Station Kotri, Got exposure of Hot Gas Path Inspection, FOD (Foreign Object
Damage), Blade Tip cracks, Liner cracks and their inspection, cross fire tubes inspection, turbine
nozzles, stages and got necessary know-how during overhauling tenure.
