Centre for Teaching Excellence Liaisons and Liaison Librarians Working together (Scott Anderson and Christa Johnston) Scott Anderson and Christa Johnston gave a presentation on how they assist faculty using UWACE. The Liaison Librarians and Center for Teaching Excellence Liaisons had a good discussion on how they can support each other when working with UWACE. 2. A refinement to “how eReserves can be displayed in UWACE and other matters” (Chris Gray and Leah Haisoch) Chris Gray and Leah Haisoch gave a presentation on the changes to eReserves. 3. Approval of the Minutes of the Meeting of May 18, 2007 The minutes were approved. 4. Business Arising Item 2 second bullet (Library Guides) Christy reported that changes to the Library guides are on hold. Christine reported that discussion regarding the Porter ISR Review will occur at an upcoming meeting. 5. Update from the Renovations Implementation Team (Christy, Janet, Marian) Janet sent out an e-mail to staff requesting feedback on some renovation ideas. She requested that staff give the renovation team feedback. Her e-mail will be discussed at a later date. Christy will run a survey for the students to comment on their needs. Results will be posted. New office furniture will be on display in the last inside office in Porter ISR. Christy announced that the renovations will begin next summer. Christy, Marian and Janet will continue on the renovation team. 6. Around the Table Barbara and Christy will do a spotlight on Google Calendar at the next meeting. Tim has joined the Flex lab Renewal Committee. The committee will be inviting comments in an open forum on October 2. More Information will be coming. Shabiran reported that there won’t be any Saturday Reference Service Shabiran will work with Circulation managers to do presentations for circulation staff to keep them informed about the various activities of ISR and librarians’ involvement. Janet reported that she has received 4 flat screen computers and all have adaptive software. Helena provided library content in form of a power point presentation for GER 600: Library Resources for Literature and Film, in UW-ACE. Christy reminded everyone about the new government Information site. She requested that if a broken link is found to please let her know. This site will be updated regularly. Christy is giving a Gaming & Information Literacy presentation next week at the Waterloo Public Library. Carol is learning parts of Baiba’s job and is taking an EXCEL course in September. Cognos Training has not been scheduled. Alison announced that she is now on the ISR Training Committee. Alison reported that the cataloguing department worked on a project with Bill Oldfield and co-op student Adam this summer. Adam developed a cross-walk to convert the e-thesis data in UWSpace into MARC record format. Cataloguers are sent automatically created MARC records when e-theses are submitted to UWSpace and they just have to double-check them for errors. Marian reported that Laurie from Circulation proposed there be a central area where promotional publications will be housed. This will be located in Circulation. Erin asked if the library was organizing a meeting with all new Faculty members. Shabiran responded that previous experience has shown since it’s a busy time most Faculty members are not able to come to the meeting so it is up to the Liaison librarians to make contact with the Faculty. A list of all new faculty members hired will be sent out soon.
